‘…queer and trans identifying artist…I never alter body shapes or gender traits digitally. These images are convincing by no means other than costume, makeup, pose, and gesture. This technical detail further demonstrates that bodies and gender presentations can be malleable or subject to change’.

From top: Brian O’Driscoll and Amy Huberman; Frank and Geraldine O’Driscoll (Brian’s parents); Brian and Amy: Aoife Cogan and Gordon D’Arcy; Cian Healy and Holly Carpenter; Jamie Heaslip and Sheena O Buachalla; Brothers Rob and Dave Kearney with Ian Madigan; Imelda May with her parents Madge and Tony Clabby, and His Brian-ness.

Stunning beardage from Mr D’Arcy, in fairness.

Ronan Lawlor writes:

Speaking to The Last Word on Today FM this evening, Brian Kerr told Matt Cooper that he believes Mick McCarthy has been disrespected by the FAI in their process to select a new manager for the national side. He also revealed that Martin O’Neill had met with FAI officials before the World Cup qualifier against Sweden in September, while Giovanni Trapattoni was still in charge of the team…

Classy.

-3-5-6-7-2We couldn’t be there on the night (as we hadn’t been invited).

But The Best Group Blog 2013 award was delivered THIS morning.

But NOT to Karl’s Den the Broadsheet office.

Karl’s ma won’t have it in the house.

Because this was a ‘group’ award it’s not just ours.

It’s YOURS.

Therefore, it now nestles between a vase and a ‘traditional’ African shield on a shelf in the home of John Gallen, a tireless Broadsheet reader and friend we have never met.

John writes:

I accept this award on behalf of Hoop, Pedanto, Sido, Pidgeon, TK Ickle, Bacchus, Sheila, Kieran,  Frilly, BBop, Fat Frog, Mani, Mikeyfex, Continuity Jay Z, Domestos, Sgt. Bilko, Caroline, Woesinger, Mick Flavin, Jockstrap, realPolithicks, Clampers Outside, Gingivitis Rex, Rory, Garthicus, Sinabhfuil, Fluffybiscuits, Bozo, Paidi, Helen, etc., etc. And all Broadsheet contributors. It’s sitting proud on the cubby in my hall way.

9031929290319289The DoubleTree Hotel, Burlington Road, Dublin, this afternoon.

Formerly the Burlington Hotel before all the property unpleasantness.

Named after Dublin character Billy DoubleTrees, who wandered around the city in the 1950s carrying two small poplars.

Good times
