Former competitive wakeboarder Cianne Naji died on Saturday from complications due to Cystic Fibrosis..

Cianne, whose Breathe Boardwear clothing company donate 5 per cent of all profits to Cystic fibrosis chairites, was National Wakeboarding champion in 2009.

Pro-choicer Cuileann Suracain’s entry (above) for the Vigil For Life Photo Contest has been disqualified after leading the voting by some margin.

The organisers confirmed testily:

“Like to remind everyone that the contest is about a picture taken during and at the event.. Maybe you can photoshop it so it looks like you’re there? Because this picture [above] does not qualify – sorry – in it’s current composition. Also daily voting is sad as it skews the numbers.”

Nic Von Rupp recently changed his plans to surf in Hawaii for Mullaghmore in Sligo. He writes:

“22 of jan, what a day… Last minute change of plans made me postpone my hawaiian trip and chase this swell all the way to Ireland. The swell window was small, it was 0ºC degrees, the ski was covered in ice, but the one day session made the trip worth it.”
