Senator (cough) Brian Ó Domhnaill.
Béarla a leg to stand on.
The commission [investigating claims of expenses fraud] was due to begin a public sitting of the investigation on Monday, but this has now been postponed. The leave for judicial review is based on a request from [Fianna Fail] Senator Brian Ó Domhnaill (above) that the investigation be carried out in Irish and that documents relating to the investigation be made available to him in Irish.
He says his constitutional rights would be infringed if this occurs.
Ah anseo.
Brian Ó Domhnaill granted leave to apply for judicial review over expenses investigation

INCOMING!
atAnd elsewhere.
You may recall Colin Harmon, Sonia Sullivan’s chum who came fourth in the World Barista Championships last month.
He works at 3fe coffee shop and coffee wholesale supplier Lower Grand Canal Street, Dublin
And, over a cup of Joe, sez:
We have put together a coffee map that we’ve had done up to help promote good coffee in the city. They were designed for us by Conor & David and it includes places we supply as well as places we love that we don’t supply.
FIGHT!
Citizen Pain
atAnna writes:
I’m trying to help a friend with his citizenship application. He submitted it months ago but has heard nothing back. We tried to submit a parliamentary question about it but were advised to email the INIS [Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Service] instead.
But then the INIS on its website says
“The following divisions of INIS can only be contacted by letter or telephone helpline as they do not operate an email service…” (via gov.ie)
The minister says in dozens of answers to parliamentary questions on applications for naturalisation:
“Queries in relation to the status of individual Immigration cases may be made directly to the INIS by e-mail using the Oireachtas mail facility which has been specifically established for this purpose. This service enables up-to-date information on such cases to be obtained without the need to seek this information by way ….” (via oireachtas.ie)
Anyone?
