Keeping Ireland safe from garrison games.
Anne Louise Foley writes:
Tonight on episode one of The Insiders (a new series that takes the audience behind the scenes to see how transformative events in recent history came about) we hear the inside story of the removal of the GAA’s infamous Rule 42 which saw the opening up of Croke Park to Soccer and Rugby….
FIGHT!

Love how that fella is wearing a replica jersey & jacket for a Scottish Association Football team.
Ah….a classic case of ‘PaddyGoBackwards’….don’t you love the Shinners?

The picture is photoshopped, the sign all ready had some silly nonsense about the British royal family!!
we know it’s photoshopped because “foreign” is spelt correctly.
It’s not really a fight situation. There were some very good reasons for rule 42 being implemented and although it stuck around for a while after it’s sell by date, in the end common sense prevailed all round.
I haven’t seen the programme, but my memory and opinion of the resolution is that its a pretty good advertisement for the gaa and irish politics when things get done correctly.
There was enough nonsense surrounding that whole affair – no need to utilise a photoshopped image to make them look silly.
Enjoyed the programme myself :)
Very good show
