[The new restrictions on texting while driving.]
Via Boards.ie contributor Ironclaw:
“I’m not a solicitor, but ‘between mobile or fixed numbers assigned in accordance with national numbering plans’ wouldn’t cover the likes of iMessage where contacts can be defined by email addresses and not phone numbers.
By my reading, its not an offence to use a GPS or touch the screen for other purposes. In fact, the only offence seems to be messaging (SMS, Text and Email) But I doubt any Garda will listen to you because its frankly impossible to tell from a distance what someone is doing on their phone.”

Thanks Conor
I was shocked when I heard people say,
They arrested the beard yesterday.
We’ve all made peace and,
Drawn a line in the sand,
And he wasn’t in the IRA.

Three questions.
Orlaith Grehan, of the Disability Federation of Ireland, writes:
“We’ve just launched our ‘Ask Three Questions’ campaign to get disability on the agenda for the upcoming elections. Here is why we want everyone to ask three questions:
Almost 600,000 people in Ireland have a disability – that’s 13% of the population.
People with disabilities are twice as likely to live in poverty as the rest of the population – 11% experience high levels of consistent poverty.
Just 20% of people with disabilities are at work, compared to 50% for the overall population.
One third of people with disabilities leave education before intended because of their disability – 43% have not progressed beyond primary education. 75% of people who use disability services are NOT satisfied with the level of control they have over their lives.”

Lynn explains:
“Is a whale floating in the sky not a clear enough metaphor?! I suppose not, well one of my favourite things to do in summer is lie outside and watch the stars, so I decided it would be fun to draw a whale breathing out all the stars into the night sky..then I thought…you know what this whale needs lots and lots of DETAIL! (I do like detail) Then I thought…this would be better if it moved so I turned it into a .GIF. The End.”
Fair enough.
