Thanks Neil Henderson (UK covers); Mark Costello (The Irish Field); Mick Crowley (The Irish Times); Paul Murphy (The Irish Sun); Colm Heaney (The Irish Daily Mirror)
Disgusting decision by the Sun to print a picture of O’Dwyers innocent wife on the front page. Did she not plea for her privacy to be protected only today? Tabloid scum.

Great advert for the dark stuff there

Great advert for that filthy tag to be outlawed

And he’s not doing any of us polo neck wearers any favours either.
It’s credited to Matt Kavanagh who worked for the Irish Times. As another posted pointed out it was on the Irish Times website within about an hour of the verdict.
It came from one of their property porn supplements in 2007, I think.
They were only delighted to post what they had, in the same way RTE played the clip of him from Beyond the Hall door TV show in 2000 on last night’s Late Late.
Mind you that was just him and no one else in the clip.
Joe the Lion
I’m fascinated by the thinking behind that. I’m certain it’s “look at him, he’s so normal looking there, sure he’s one of us” not to mention the ghoulish aspects of slandering the wife. Typical middle class navel fluff pickers
Praetorian.
i would love to have seen him walk just to sicken them basterd tabloid editors and so called journos.
Zarathustra
Praetorian, are you saying that you’d love to see an evil, vindictive, manipulative, depraved murderer set free, just because you don’t agree with the editorial policies of tabloids?
Speaking of Bay Lee, he is expecting the judgement is his proceedings against the Gardai and the State on Monday, met him last Thursday on Chancery Street, didn’t appear to have a care in the world as he purposefully made his way alone down to the Four Courts presumably.
If yesterday was seen as a good day for the Gardai, then I think Monday will reveal the darker side, which is part of the cloud hanging over policing in this country.
Joe the Lion
Did he stagger, Lee?
The Bird in the Box
you’re scum
Mike
No you are. No YOU are.
NAZI! I said it first! No, I did!
Etc etc
Junior
The Irish Times already ran an article online using the same photo of his wife. Very very poor form. I don’t know if it’s in the print version.
Ciarán
The Sun: stories on front page, pages 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 14.
That should cover it.
No?
Ok, here’s a 16-page pull-out too
Ms Piggy
to be fair, the Sun’s pages are quite small ;-)

Surprised the Sun isn’t giving away a free knife or BDSM mask with every issue.
Frilly Keane
It never.
Seriously.
It never occurred t’me Dwyer might be a serial killer
Fair dues to the jury for keeping it together all this time.
I understand that some of the graphics and videos they had to observe, on top of everything else that even I didn’t have the stomach for in week 1, were depraved beyond depraved.
Jesus I can’t even find the words.
Anyway. Fair play to the Guards, the Prosecution, the Judge and the Jury. They did right by us all, and most especially Elaine, R.I.P.
joe
The guards? What about all the leaked data from pulse? Fair play alright. Trial by media before the court case ever happene .
Mani
Well, you would say that. Sure it was your own appearance of the late late show that did you in.
Frilly Keane
‘You talking ta’ me Mandi?
Frilly Keane
Opps
Get it now
Mani
You may need to cut back on the bath salts.
Frilly Keane
And what about all the evidence they found on ‘im
Before they even knew there was a murder
On this occasion
They did good
The hint of a possibility of earlier murders was in some of his texts where he referred to an earlier victim, I think.
I hope, in time her family, and indeed his, may find some peace after this.
Elaine RIP

The look on his face in that photograph on the front page of the Irish Times. It’s the prison officer leading him that looks guilty, Dwyer looks top-of-the-morning-to-you. What a devious and dangerous individual.
And I see he’s suing the Gardai for the way in which they collected evidence
“The Irish Times has learned Dwyer is suing the State for the manner in which gardaí accessed his telephone records.
He lodged documentation with the courts at the end of January and the State is fighting the case. The matter is based on a ruling last April by the European Court of Justice which found the EU data retention directive was invalid.”
Joe the Lion
Which is his right. I agree with the others who say the Gardai are at fault for leaking evidence. His defence argued on the basis of this that he could not receive a fair trial. While Garda O’Donoghue and others are a credit to the force, others could easily have undermined their work
The lack of obvious remorse is rather chilling in that photo.
LiamZero
That photo was taken a good while ago, not yesterday.
joe
This guy was convicted by the media long before the court case thanks in no small part to the leaking of all the data on him from pulse. Beggers believe how the gardai are been praised today.
Joe the Lion
Which defence was ruled against by the judge. Deal with it Remy, you’re not as clever as you thought you were.
joe
I don’t care about this, I’m just concentrating on getting more game time ahead of drogba
louislefronde
IMO. Juries don’t tend to get it wrong, so irrespective of the media frenzy the alternative explanation of suicide just didn’t stand up to scrutiny.
I watched the news last night, and I was surprised to see the guards involved in the case giving interviews to RTE, firstly the Guard who went back to the reservoir to extract the evidence, and secondly a senior detective. That struck me as very unusual.
Joe the Lion
Why? There was a public interest in their explaining how they did their work. As Spaghetti Hoop and others pointed out the salient learning outcome from this case is that rapists and murderers let alone anyone else, no longer have a reasonable expectation to privacy in the cellphone era. I’m certain the court challenge by Dwyer on that point will in a way be more interesting than the murder trial, if it ever comes to court as it could have wide ranging implications for how the Gardai can collect evidence
Read last night that Amanda Knox’s verdict was overturned. That too, was a strange case
Formerly known as @ireland.com
Great. Hopefully, we never have to hear about that case, again.

Does anyone else use independent.ie on their mobile? whenever I read a story there’s always links to a few “promoted articles” which always seem to be very pro-israel. does everyone get the same links or has the Internet figured out that I’m slightly pro-Palestine?

Notice Derry making the front cover of the International New York Times. It was a great event for the city.
