Claire Byrne Live on RTE One last night
Last night, on RTÉ One’s Claire Byrne Live, there was a panel discussion about the forthcoming Budget before Ms Byrne interviewed Fianna Fáil leader Mícheál Martin.
The panel included economist Dan O’Brien, Fine Gael TD Simon Harris, Sinn Féin TD Pearse Doherty and sociologist Niamh Hourigan.
Social Democrat candidate Anne-Marie McNally writes:
Well it turns out that Claire Byrne live last night had zero interest in hearing from ANY election candidates despite having invited some of us out. It wasn’t just SocDems; FF & FG candidates were also studiously ignored.
We were all placed sitting in the same vicinity and hell or high water wasn’t going to make Claire call on us despite the raised hands.
Interesting debate but defo time that could’ve been better spent at home!

claire byrne was an interesting lady , I admired her media work and enjoyed her commentary and fancied the pants off her as well. I hadn’t felt this way since I was a teenager watching vorderman on countdown.
In recent times she does nothing for me intellectually or otherwise.

I love a good panel show usually, but can’t be arsed with CBLive. It’s a bit Newstalky.
Watched it. Simon Harris is spot on in everything he says, always hard to disagree with him, but he comes across as unlikeable in my opinion, needs to slow down his speech and relax where possible. Because he is sharp as a tack and has countered every argument put to him successfully
His tone is very nagging-granny isn’t it?

What good public deeds is he known for? Youth is supposed to bring change and renewal and vigor, bring society into 21 century. He drones on like 70 year old politician. Harris is betting on geriatric horse FG is.
lol. Harris needs to feck off back to the tuck shop. He’s a slimy little oik who simply regurgitates doctrine with the barest hint of comprehension. He’s not even fit to be a henchman – hes more like the weasley friend of the henchman.
Possibly the least likeable politician in the office, and that is really, really saying something.

Byrne isn’t tough enough with her questioning and is not a good mediator. And What is it with that horrible, gloomy, purple set? It’s like something out of Blake’s 7.
