Well…

Mark Hennessy writes:

I know everyone is fully aware (and over) the rent situation but I thought that this was just taking the piss. €1,500 for a ONE bed apartment, UNFURNISHED!

There is also someone in the same area renting a 2 bed apartment on a short term basis accommodating for 10 people. 10 people in a 2 bed apartment? Ah here!

Castle Gate, Lord Edward Street, Dublin 2 0 €1,500 (Daft)

Is it? How much of the current state of the market is as a result of various actions and inactions by both state and private actors? You might as well be saying ‘In the name of the father, my friends….’ when you say this.

Extortion is a type of Sport in Ireland now. We’re great at it! Look at us go!

Daft indeed. It has gotten to the point that if you are lucky enough to rent a decent place, then that’s probably all you can do. So you work to pay for a place to live so you can continue to work and pay rent. No savings, no pension, no health cover and no quality of life either, if you’re employer is anything like the average.

Or move to a suburb on one of the train lines where you can get much more for your buck.

        1. Nigel

Because the spread of urban sprawl extending commuting times, putting heavy strain and expense on infrastructure and eating into the countryside is awesome and sustainable. God, we think planning is for snooty muckity mucks, don’t we?

      +1
The economy is very rigged in Ireland. The wealth gap is getting worse. Revolution is needed for sure.

Destruction of FF and FG would be a good start

  3. Small Wonder

Interesting… Patricia was also the name of the woman who wanted to cram 4 people into a poopy 2 bed on Dame street a while back…

The real question is does he have more than Jonotti, King of the Self-made Men?

          1. The Real Jane

No, more than Jonotti, King of the Self-made Men is that feminists personal glass ceiling.

            Don’t listen to him.
            It’s not comedy.

Funny thing that the joke is on him
            Now that’s comedy!

    1. Tony

We’re all here to annoy you, Tony. Specifically to annoy you. The posts about frankly ridiculous rents are just a front for Operation Annoy Tony.

            @ Tony
            Grrrr!

It would be Grrrr-eat if you got back in your box.
Otherwise you should expect a Frostie reception to your antics.

It’s a venue for reacting to the utter stupidity of situation where city center living is nigh-on unaffordable except under conditions of sparsity and overcrowding. You keep quiet with your complaints and problems, maybe somebody will notice how good you’re being and reward you by fixing them.

  5. 15 cents

landlord of the one bed apartment cant even be holed puttin up more than one pic.

  6. Christopher

There will be plenty of Brazilian “language students” to rent it so it’s all ok in bubble Ireland 2.0

    1. Bonkers

aye plus we managed to secure the extradition of solicitor Michael Lynn from Brazil, a country with no extradition treaty. Go the Irish-Brazilian diplomatic relations !

  7. Eoin

I sure wish I was like you Tony. Or even your moustache comb. I basically just wish I was pig ignorant of the injustices around me or too wealthy to care or lobotomized or a sociopath. Whatever it takes to not give a damn. That’d be great. To be like every other unthinking, unfeeling fool who have nothing to add to a discussion but (not all that) smart ass comments. You’re pretty unfunny too Tony…..for a clown. Back to the circus for a bit more training?

    1. Tony

Come on man! Thats a bit harsh. I help poor people and women. Just ask them. Circuses are cruel by the way. I help animals too.

      1. sǝɯǝɯʇɐpɐq

You forgot to add ‘and I have absolutely no skills or training as a clown’, even if it IS obvious.
