Saw a programme about china and the linking of mainland Hong Kong Macau by road
At a cost just over 2 times of the national maternity hospital they have built a bridge connecting Hong Kong to china mainland
The other bridge connecting Macau to Hong Kong is due to be finished this year spanning some 47 kilometres
This apparently will cost three times
Imagine both projects completed in under ten years costing the same as 5 national maternity hospitals and constructed to cope with weather
We cannot even build a underground or luaus line fit for purpose
Watching this programme a segment was filmed in the air and the pure magnitude of industrial complexes road networks housing that all involved feats of planning made me think us Irish are really Mickey mouse
I would say our whole countries industrial production would fit in a block about 2 klms square
No wonder china is swiftly becoming the biggest economy in the world
Nothing to do with the fact that China has more than 275 times as many people as us?
Although it’s GNP is only 80 times bigger than ours – so we are more then three-and-a-half times as productive.
