The Pope’s Runaround

This morning.

Maynooth, County Kildare

Skoda Ireland has announced it will be the official “car partner” to the World Meeting of Families 2018 and the Papal visit.

When Pope Francis arrives in Dublin he will be transported in a Skoda Rapid (above).

Three identical Rapids have been reserved for the event; each one customised to individual requirements.

Leon writes;

Modified glass has been installed for improved visibility, each vehicle has been provided in a custom navy-blue colour by request and chrome flag poles have also been installed to  to the passenger-side fenders, which will display the Vatican flag…

      Here there’s nothing wrong with a Skoda these days, please pack up your prejudices in your old kit bag and take them elsewhere

  2. rotide

    A very very young rotide was blown away by the original popemobile. I couldn’t understand why other important people (namely, presidents and spacemen and my dad) didn’t have one. It occupied a space like the Jetsons flying car. Basically, I know popemobiles and that sir, is no popemobile.

          but you’re right, that skoda yoke doesn’t cut it at-fupping-all. unless the OPW are sawing off the roof and doing a pimp-your-ride job on it.

      I’m assuming that’s just to get him from the airport to the park which would take the popemobile 19 days to journey (aren’t they just glorified golf buggies?). “Three identical Rapids have been reserved for the event; each one customised to individual requirements.” Vodka bar to the park, Brandy bar down at Knock and then Karaoke Skoda with Gin to Croke Park. True, I heard it from a friend of a neighbours aunt.
