Not only can I not drive in #Dublin this weekend because of the leader of the worlds largest child abuse ring is in town. Now I can’t park my bike outside the office. #PopeInIreland pic.twitter.com/F65tNchK1P

This is nuts. Sure as hell wasn’t in the ‘information pack’ that bikes were banned from bike-parks.
12 additional bike stations of the cross to be provided for the weekend that’s in it
who says? no garda or DCC logo. i would remove that sign as misleading and that it constitutes an obvious hazard, in the interests of proper and decent citizenry.
pffft
Spoken like a true cyclist, who doesn’t believe the rules apply to them.
Spoken like a man who can’t resist rubbing his nips at the mere mention of a pointless or intrusive bit of regulatory prlckery.
Exactly my thoughts, could be Anto and Nidgey that put up them signs and they’ll come along on Saturday with a van and scoop up hundreds of bikes and no one will say boo to them.
Utter insanity. Whatever about banning cars, banning bikes is reprehensible. It’s not like we have a world class public transport network to compensate!
You’re only allowed on public transport this Sunday if you have a ticket to the pope event.
…ah here…if the faithful have to give up their mobility scooters the least you pagan cyclists can do is give up your free city centre parking for a day…
Oh, find another spot. Big bloody drama. You were glad of the Communion money, where’nt ya?
That’s the spirit! I made my communion when I was 7 and I still make sure to never criticise the church or anything related because I hadn’t yet developed the critical faculty to turn down money from my relatives.
Give me a boy until he is 7 years old and I’ll, I’ll, … mmmm make a man out of him.
But where will the removed bikes be buried? HUMMMMMMMMM?
After seeing a notice about the Popemobile this makes slightly more sense. They expect Dame street to be crammed with people and want every bit of available standing room possible.
Let’s take this as yet another indication that of course the government should be spending more than a mere 1% of the transport budget* on cycling infrastructure, including more off street bike parking solutions:
