Sean Murray, in The Journal, reports:

The woman who was wrongly accused of murdering a baby in Kerry in the 1980s has filed High Court action against the State, a year after she received an apology from the Taoiseach over her treatment in the case.

Joanne Hayes is set to sue over being wrongfully arrested and subsequently charged with the murder of ‘Baby John’, whose body was discovered on a beach near Cahirciveen in Kerry.

I’d be ok with millions of my tax euros paying for Joanne to live her life in luxury. She certainly deserved it.

He should really suffer some consequences , for the sake of his colleagues coming up behind him , but he might feel aggrieved as there is no chance of any former state employees suffering any consequences from their participation in these events….

If settlements paid out to victims because of Gardai malpractice were partially paid out of the Garda pension pot , I wonder would it focus minds in the future …

An excellent idea. It’ll never happen.

Watch out for the RTE spin machine to kick in on this one, I’d imagine they will get dozy hole Finucane to assemble a panel of the usual coprophages to digest the bull manure on air.

I will be be on this like a bonnet lads

I’m personally mortified Joanne has had to wait this long for what I think should be upwards of 15 mill for her and her family

However I’m thrilled she has taken it into her own hands and engaged a gun fighter

    Sometimes I think
And I’m probably going ta’ take a hiding now for this
    But sometimes I think
Maurice McCabe should have waited in line behind Joanne Hayes

    While it’s great news
    TBF
I’m still harbouring some real disgust

    Over 30 ..úking years
