A recent discharge from the Ringsend wastewater treatment plant into Dublin Bay

A sewage leak into Dublin Bay has been blamed on increased construction work pushing rubble into the system.

An analysis by Irish Water of material arriving at the wastewater treatment plant in Ringsend after the incident two weeks ago found that it was not normal sewage.

The material contained substances that were “possibly entering the sewer network as a result of the increase in construction activity across the city”, the company said.

Bullet proof excuse really…good work whoever came up with that one. They are probably dizzy now.
This was foreseeable, they were operating (for a long time) above capacity, well paid people made these decisions and these people will remain well paid. In fact they are working above capacity or failing EU standards in over 30 waste water treatment plants around the country. Pure poo being floated out to sea. No doubt we’ll get the ‘legacy of under- investment’ lines trotted out and BAM! Irish Water/RTE back putting the pressure on for our moola during the Summer.

So, there’ll be prosecutions and fines for those dumping building material in the sewers?

Has the CEO of Irish Water/Ervia been interviewed by the Gardai yet?

Not good enough. Accept responsibility for the spill, stop looking for blame, and focus on making sure this doesn’t happen again and how to improve our waste water system. Sort your shit out.

    No tribunal required, thanks.
