This afternoon.
In Buswells Hotel, Dublin 2.
The Solidarity-People Before Profit party launches their candidates for the European elections on May 24.
The candidates are Gillian Brien (Dublin), Adrienne Wallace (South), Cyril Brennan (Midlands North West) and Rita Harold (Dublin).
Fiach Kelly tweetz:
.@pb4p Euro election launch. Promises include joining a “movement of civil disobedience to remove border posts if they are imposed by either the UK government or the EU…peace in Ireland is more important than Tory nationalism or the EU single market”.
Meanwhile, last night…
My mum sounded a bit upset after I sent her this photo.
Me-It’s OK mum I was careful.
Mum-It’s not that. Just I came here with no English, no friends & no home 40 yrs, I never thought I’d see my kids election poster on a pole. I’m so proud.

UPDATE:
Update. I thought I’d make my mum even prouder by telling her my tweet was getting a lot of likes.
Her: Hazel, are ‘likes’ votes? Don’t think so. Go and get some actual votes. Shouldn’t you be canvassing?!
Ah, I love my tiger mom.

Green party, no fear of getting elected
I thought it would be something different/ that maybe Hazel Chu had something to offer. She has. The same old rhetoric and catchphrases of Eamon Ryan. As per her twitter feed. Pity.
I wouldn’t be writing her off just yet. While there has been a lot of talk about the move towards the right in European politics the move toward the Greens has gone, pretty much, under the radar despite this movement outstripping the right in some elections. She’s one of 7 candidates currently nominated to run in Pembroke which is a newly formed 5 seater (in 2014 it was an 8 seater as Pembroke/South Dock). The other six candidates are 3 FG, 1 FF, 1 Lab and 1 Renua. Of those 1 FG and the Labour candidate are sitting councillors.
With informed voters such as yourself about, probably not…
PBP obviously prefer massive smuggling on an industrial scale by former paramilitaries to a few border posts. A few of them are probably former Worker’s Party members so that would make sense.
Isn’t Labour infested with former WP people?
Love mums reply ….. priceless !!
PBP supported Brexit. They can’t really moan about what they helped cause. But they will, of course.
Will Trotsky and Rosa Luxemburg be mentioned in their election manifesto?
Anyone know a good way to find out more about the voting records of the incumbent candidates?

This seems like maybe a place to start but maybe there’s a third party doing comparisons of the various candidates?
Any newspapers listing and comparing the candidates or is it too local for that kind of detailed reporting?
