Vulture Wars

This afternoon.

Molesworth Street. Dublin 2.

A protest organised by People Before Profit against vulture fund Val Issuer Dac – outside its head office – and the possible mass eviction of renters in Portobello, Dublin 8.

People Before Profit is working with the Dublin Renters’ Union to protect the over 50 tenancies at South Richmond Street and Rosedale Terrace that are threatened with eviction. Val Issuer Dac purchased the properties last November.

Good luck to them, it’s scary to be facing eviction.

Just for info, 32 Molesworth Street is the registered address for, I would guess, 100s of companies. The directors look like nominees. The tenants might want to do a bit of investigation to establish who the beneficial owner is that’s pulling the strings. PBP have been strong on these types of evictions, but they could do with a bit of help tracking down ownership etc.

Ah that particular vulture fund is a real piece of work. They are linked to Lugus Capital, the sellers of the Cork apartment block where it issued families with termination notices in the run-up to Christmas back in 2017. They purchased for estimated 8.45 million and they have just sold the building to the state and Cluid housing for 20 million, more than double what it acquired it for.

Cha Ching! Nice profit! It’s disgusting.
