The Irish Times reports:

Ireland’s first cluster of coronavirus cases has been confirmed, after a family of four tested positive for the disease on Wednesday evening.

The group comprises two males and two females, and are in the west of the country.

The latest positive tests from the National Virus Reference Laboratory bring to six the number of confirmed cases of the virus in the Republic, and nine on the island of Ireland.

Look. There are lots more cases in Ireland than this – in UCD, DCU, schools, multinational companies, etc. The extent is being suppressed because it will trigger a demand for time off and impact tourism.

The HSE are the last people to be in charge of anything.

    1. ReproBertie

It’s very likely that there are more cases in Ireland and as testing increases more will be found but this speculative rumour mongering and conspiracy theorising helps nobody.

      1. Ringsend Incinerator

That’s boopy boop boops. +The reason there is no hand disinfectant in shops? It’s not because anyone bought them; it’s because the HSA ordered the should be stockpiled. The govt (what govt) and State are full of it as usual.

Next you’ll be telling us that RTE and the Irish Times are neutral reporters of the news.

      2. GiggidyGoo

Well, well. Repro trying to stir up panic.
“It’s very likely that there are more cases in Ireland…”
Is that what the HSE or the WhatsApp group are now saying?

        1. ReproBertie

If you’d been paying attention to the HSE instead of trying to discredit them you’d know they’ve been saying to expect more cases in Ireland.

So, what time was the first patient tested?

          1. GiggidyGoo

Still making a fool of yourself? You’ve reached the end of the road on that one. Get over it.

          2. ReproBertie

Still avoiding the question. It’s really simple. You either know what happened or you don’t. If you know then when was he tested?

It’s OK to say you don’t know and were working entirely on assumption.

        2. GiggidyGoo

Listen Repro. The facts are that a test was carried out on a gentleman suspected of having coronavirus. After that test, while waiting for results, that gentleman was let leave wherever he was tested without any instructions as to self-isolate, and he attended the band practice.
He was infected. Now you tell me what does the time of testing have to do with it, when the obvious advice to him would have been to not mix/mingle and to self-isolate. (you know – those instructions you mention regularly that are on the HSE website).

So stop being a prat. The HSE messed up. They then sent a letter to the Band to tell them they were in contact with the virus and in danger. Then they twittered that the letter was a hoax and finally admitted that the letter was in fact NOT a hoax.

As I saw you’ve run out of road. Asking a question about a specific time means nothing when the HSE, whatever the time, should have instructed to self-isolate regardless. They didn’t.

You’re in free fall now. Cop on to yourself and don’t be always making a fool of yourself.

          1. ReproBertie

All I’m asking you to do is to provide proof that he was sent on his way while they waited for the test results. You say it’s a fact so prove it.

          2. GiggidyGoo

As I said, don’t be such a prat. Do you think you’re defending the HSE in some way with such a stupid question.

          3. ReproBertie

Just answer it. You’ve been spreading the story about how they sent him on his merry way. Where’s your proof? Put up or shut up.

          4. GiggidyGoo

            As, yourself this question Repro.
Did they keep him, or did they let him leave?
When you’ve answered that question, you’ve answered your own question.
You’re noticeable by your absence on the most recent threads.

    2. Clampers Outside

And if that’s true, that there are way more cases nit being recorded, then the fatality rate would be smaller than is reported.

        1. ReproBertie

Italy’s skyrocketing numbers are down to testing revealing the extent of the outbreak, not to a sudden surge in infection.

      1. some old queen

Well that is the big issue worldwide- the fatality ratio is wholly dependent on the reported 100% and unless compulsory mass screening begins- that may never be known.

It is entirely possible that some people clear it while being totally asymptomatic in which case the fatality rate is far lower than what is being cited.

its important for the vulnerable or immunocompromised to know Covid19 is a novel virus. the HSE are failing those most at risk by not stressing this.

the general public is fine but the complete lack of information and honesty for the compromised is frankly disgraceful.

do not place your trust in their hands as they are only giving out general advice.
if you’re immunocompromised or immuno suppressed or have Lupus or rheumatoid arthritis or any other autoimmune disease you should be super careful where you go and who you are around.

I’ve dealt with the HSE for years. moronic doesn’t cover their ineptitude.

  2. Dr.Fart

all cases are from the same region. stop flights going and coming from there for pee sake.

    1. GiggidyGoo

You’ve Holohan and Harris at the helm. Think back to the cervical cancer debacle. And both of them still in situ.
Going on past performance, cover-ups are order of the day with those two.

  3. some old queen

Was it really so hard to track people coming from north Italy?

How come so few cases in Russia at this stage?

        1. V

          Must be Janie
I was telling Lil there the Star recommends dousing yerself in Vodka

          And shur’
          You know me

          1. V

That reminds me of the lad who mixed up his Viagra prescription with his Prozac

At least he didn’t give a ___k when he couldn’t get a same thing only sweatier
            ╮(. ❛ ᴗ ❛.)╭
Shur’ what harm did it do in the end

    1. Toe Up

I was wondering about Russia myself. You’d expect there to be plenty of travel between China and Russia at least, not to mind other infected countries. I suspect it’s a good old case of Russian sekretnost.

      1. V

In the spirit of the Bond theme running nextdoor

        From Russia with Love

Is the last thing we need to start worrying about

In The North, two more people were confirmed positive for the virus today. So, three in total. Michelle and Arlene won’t be travelling to NYC for Paddy’s Day – a Cobra meeting has been called in which they maybe/are/are not involved in directly – but have to remain in case they could contribute to a solution and support the people of The North – what? On a lighter note – I met a friend for lunch today, instead of the usual greeting of a hug and a kiss, I suggested we try the, “Wahun Shake” – we looked like a pair of eejits who were attempting Irish Dancing for the first time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zf5tGGD_6kA

      1. yupyup

It’s a GP and his family apparently. He has been in practice since his return from Italy. The 2 kids go to 2 different schools in the county.

  5. V

This looks like it’s all getting more real now
And I’m not smart enough to stay on top of this, like I didn’t do any sciences for the leaving,
    And I’m allergic to bleach

So is Mother Nature doing her thing
Or is it the work of chem trailing Globalist Cartel EU Militia Five Families Vatican Underground Deep State Clinton Oligarch Lizards

I’m not trying to wind anyone up, but like if this was for real, real like, Harris would’ve been moved off it, days ago
And SF and FF would have made sure if it
Well if they’re serious about Government they should have

Does the QAnon network Irish Branch have anything to report –

    1. Lilly

I’m allergic to bleach too V. I suspect the HSE are making a hames of this, but hey, they’re working on a carefully worded apology as we speak. Zero regard for citizens in the guise of panic prevention.

      1. V

‘ just saw there in the Star
        I know right

But they say Vodka is the job for homemade virus killer
So we’ll just have to make do with that so Lil

          1. some old queen

Yes- but the green bottle bodyshop range of products is great they have the real oil added too. A pure bottle is less that €5.

  6. Spaghetti Hoop

This Doc H will either resign as pressure mounts or will delegate the Comms work to one of his team. When we hit double figures / twenties perhaps.

    1. V

Holohan is in there a long time Spag – since Prof Drumm’s time
      He’s going nowhere

And the HSE have always struggled with retaining Comms Officers
So maybe he’s just short-handed in that area

  7. diddy

gov policy is that we should not travel to northern italy. northern italy is where all our cases have originated. northern italy was the irigin of 17 lads quarantined in India today, northern italy is clearly infested with this disease. barring flights from northern italy would be ” ineffective” according to government. can anyone explain this logic to me please?

    1. Ringsend Incinerator

It’s people RETURNING from Italy spreading the disease. What are you supposed to do? Put them up in the Hilton in Milan until two weeks are up?

  8. Ringsend Incinerator

Look on the bright side. It’s in Ireland so could bump off that bunch of bed-blocking coffin dodgers who ruined this country and now want everything for free: The Over-65s; the only ones voting for the FG/FF Stasi

    Happy days.
