Or shoot those in poverty who are forced to travel by foot through city to poo jobs, as in the Philippines.

Maybe a few Gardai could take a trip to Rosslare Harbour – there are numerous people from the newly acquired DP centre hanging about at both entrance doors of the supermarket coughing and spluttering on people going to do their shopping. They’re not shopping themselves, but seem intent on causing distress to people who are.

      1. GiggidyGoo

It’s right across from the Supermarket and they can be seen coming and going. Next question?

Why don’t you advise the alleged offenders of the government restrictions and guidance – is it that hard to talk to real people?

Italia ’90, it was posted as such (a joke). At any other time I would call you a muppet.

Italia’90, sorry, I should have made it more obvious it was a gag. Your contributions here are valued and you’re always welcome.

Let me think up something that most people can put together from whats in their presses etc

Speaking of which: if 5G towers are being erected during this lock down then why?

Hardly essential work now is it?

    1. some old queen

For anyone interested in the whole 5G thing- here is a really useful guide to where it is currently being operated. A total of 29 sites on the island of Ireland so far but by the reports coming in, more on the way.

But in order to understand why some people are so concerned about 5G, it is best to start with the basics of microwave mobile technology. This is a very good speech by Dr Devra Davis from five years ago on the subject.

She explains how men who stick their mobiles in the front pocket of their jeans are more likely to have fertility issues and how women who stick it in their bra can develop an unusual type of breast cancer.

An hour long and really worth a watch- you’ll be looking at that smart phone or tablet differently afterwards- for sure.

      1. realPolithicks

        From Dr Davis’ Wikipedia entry:

“Tackling publicly sensitive topics from tobacco, to asbestos to overuse of diagnostic radiation, Davis’s findings and methods have been criticized,[9] in some cases being called “junk science”, especially for raising concerns about cellphone safety”

        1. some old queen

Yes junk science by whom? There is little if any objective research going on in the US because of the power of the telecoms and tech industries.

In October last year, councillors in Wicklow backed a motion opposing the rollout of 5G in the county. Similar motions have also been passed in a number of other counties, including Clare, Leitrim, Clare, Wexford and Sligo. 26000 scientists worldwide have signed a petition opposing 5G technology.

All GO’D heads then? Mind you- I can see how those particular dots were joined because the test 5G City in China was- Wuhan.

The jury is most definitely out on 5G but if you take the view that ALL radiation poses a risk- then surely it is not a great leap to assume that a supercharged version poses even more?

    2. The Old Boy

Increasing internet capacity when a vast number of jobs and large portion of the economy are hanging by a few fraying threads of remote-working by internet is “hardly essential”?

      1. some old queen

5G is mobile tech old boy- meaning it is to be used on the move.

It is not required for home working.

        1. Cian

“[CSO] Data for 2017 indicates that fixed broadband is the most common type of internet access in the household (84% compared with 49% using mobile broadband). Internet access via narrow broadband connection was just 1%. Note that more than one type of internet connection may be used in households.”
3 years ago 26% of households exclusively used mobile broadband.

It certainly is used for home working (granted this pre-dates 5G rollout).

          1. some old queen

Yes I expect those figures are way out of date as broadband reach has increased quite a bit since then.

But, my understanding is that 5G only works with fibre meaning that those same areas are already covered by high speed. Therefore, the remainder who are using data will continue- but not on 5G because it doesn’t stretch that far.

        2. The Old Boy

That is a very one-dimensional way of looking at it. By increasing 5G capacity, mobile devices become less dependant on domestic connections, thus freeing them up for work use.

    3. Cian

      1. Are 5G towers being erected?
      2. Communication is essential work. More people are working from home. Broadband usage is up. I’m not sure if 5G specifically is essential – but the rest of the communication network is.

      1. some old queen

1.- Apparently so. This work may have been scheduled beforehand but it is most definitely not essential.

2.- Answer as above to old boy.

    1. some old queen

Among other things I am a qualified electrician engineer V so give me some credit eh?

Ask yourself this- would you want one of them outside your local primary school? I certainly wouldn’t.

    2. some old queen

And just to clarify- I personally do not think there is a link between COVID-19 and 5G but anything is possible. I don’t understand how at certain frequencies 5G affects oxygen to have an opinion on it one way or another.

What I do think is by installing these things at a time when they hope most people won’t notice, the respective telecoms companies are trying to pull a fast one. That work is not essential, they shouldn’t be doing it, so- if anyone observes such activity, they should report it to the guards.

      1. some old queen

Just a bump de bump bump.

If you see anybody working on telecoms towers- CALL THE GUARDS.

If you can hang around because you live within a radius of 2km then after ten minutes, CALL THEM AGAIN- and repeat call until they arrive and question the offenders.

Cop in picture 2 appears to be performing part of Riverdance for a tourist. Hope he makes a few quid.
