Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications and Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan
Over 30,000 people have arrived into Ireland since 8th December from UK according to Colm Henry on @morningireland

Eamon Ryan, the Transport Minister, on @morningireland has no details of how many people coming into Ireland in recent weeks have tested positive for COVID-19.
Also says he expects people coming from Britain in the last two weeks to self-isolate in their room on Christmas Day

This morning.
Good times.
New advice for British arrivals since 8 December (RTÉ)

This Government are clueless if they expect people to heed to this advice.
No, people are clueless for not doing it and assume “ah, sure it will be grand”
not like it’s a developing situation with no easy or definitive solution
It’s great to see everybody starting to not give a f*** about this meme virus.
we’d be better off with an empty chair with a post-it note on it saying “no” than Eamon Ryan.
I know Eamon from a few gigs and my god he is away with the fairies. Utopia in his mind – anything is possible etc. Except for practicalities. Malcolm Noonan is the same but even more idealistic. Compost toilets for all, tweed scarves for Christmas etc. Jesus. Give me Sinn Fein over them any day.
Malcolm is a lovely guy in person but a bit of an airhead. Well intentioned but lacks the grey matter. Kind of like most of the Greens tbh. These are the guys who encouraged everyone to buy diesels based on assurances from the motor industry that diesel was environmentally friendlier. Not the sharpest tools in the box. Generally nice people though. Not suited to government.
The biggest joke is dropping the household restriction from 3 households to 2. So how do you decide which invited family members to tell to get lost, possibly to spend the day on their own, 2 days before christmas? Answer – you don’t. To hell with the lot of them
sounds like the perfect christmas, actually
In that scenario, anyone with any sense at all would ignore this nonsense and continue with the three families as planned. It’s really only an issue of they make it one themselves.
This is the kind of carry on that should make us all stop and think. Either NPHET and the state are not that bothered/scared of the virus or else they are deliberately trying to make it seem worse by letting anyone fly in. It’s beyond incompetence/corruption.
Exactly. I’d say not that bothered/scared
We should have learned this from Golfgate.
Lots of 60 and 70 year olds wandering around a golf club with no restrictions and more importantly- no fear.
If they were concerned at all they’d be holed up at home wearing PPE 24/7
People should have been told to stay away this year. Instead planeloads of self absorbed millennials came anyway and ignored all isolation rules.
Good luck telling that to the visitors to Rathkeale.
the strangest thing is why anybody, journalist or otherwise, would ever ask him of his opinion on anything.
