See all of you who are aware and concerned for the future generations at this event later.

“If you strike us down now we shall rise again and renew the fight. You cannot conquer Ireland; you cannot extinguish the Irish passion for freedom. If our deed has not been sufficient to win freedom then our children will win it by a better deed.”
    ― Pádraig Pearse

        1. goldenbrown

well Mr. T I’m the opposite of that spectrum and I always found Pádraig Pearse to be a bit of a floaty fupping looper frankly

seems to me he craved the whole blood sacrifice thing, martyrdom, symbology etc. if there was collateral damage well whateverz…it’ll benefit our great great grandchilder…all fine and well for some but personally I like being alive and I have enough problems managing day to day and reaching me own finish line satisfactorily nevermind the future several multiple generations away aspirational cak (also see United Ireland)

if you placed me in a time machine and sent me back to someplace where he was shyting on I’d hope that I would have had the good sense to steer clear and kept saving for the boat ticket west the selfish bollix that I am, lol

  2. SOQ

If Mary McAleese was still in office, there is no way this would be signed in without referral.

      1. SOQ

Nope but I do know a lot about Mary’s history before becoming President, and there is absolutely no way she would have allowed this.

          1. SOQ

Mary McAleese was, and is, a legal heavyweight who used her time in office to address issues concerning justice, social equality, social inclusion, anti-sectarianism and reconciliation.

            Justice,
            Social equality,
            Social inclusion.

This would never happen under her watch, ever.

          2. Rob_G

Did McAleese routinely refer legislation to the Supreme Court based on the size of a mob that turned up outside the Áras?

            – I really love learning the wacky ideas that people have about what exactly it is that the President does

          3. SOQ

Nothing to do with any mob- although they are perfectly entitled to protest if they choose. It is a democracy after all- just about.

    1. Lilly

I expect she’ll be highly visible at the protest tonight so, lending her support. Make sure you get a selfie with her.

  3. Daisy Chainsaw

No organisers? Ben Gilroy, Dee Wall, National Party etc, right wing dregs are behind it, organising their own version of the 6 Jan Capitol riot.

    1. MR.T

ah yes, theyre going to storm the Aras and take Michael D & his dog hostage

I hope to see you there on the sidelines telling them all how evil they are Daisy

        1. Fearganainm

Don’t want to worry you, Ron, but you should consult a doctor right away about your phantosmia.

    2. Nilbert

“no organiser’s” even… they always add that magical apostrophe.

When somebody organises something, and the actual poster says ‘no organisers’, it just screams hidden agenda.

    3. Ronan

“No organisers”, the account promoting it said, without a hint of irony.

Sorry pal whomever agreed the time and place – you are the organisers.

In a way, no organisers is more of a problem than organisers, because you’ll attract all sorts

      1. Joe

To attract all sorts of the deluded and the gullible.
To rope them in just like the anti-vaxxers/anti-public health measures/conspiraloon posters on Broadsheet , that is exactly how the National Party and right wing knuckle draggers organise it.
BS has become the go to site for the likes of these extremists.

        1. Bodger

Joe, the National Party got less than 1 per cent at the last General Election and did slightly worse in the Dublin Bay South by-election. You are chasing ghosts/controlled opposition. Or maybe you’re just a height supremacist. Eh? Cause yer man’s dinky. OK. I’ll get my coat.

          1. Joe

Attend one of the protests and you can see the National Party and fellow travellers for yourself.

    4. yupyup

It will be interesting to see how many wear masks and how many socially distance responsibly at this. If it’s not many at all then forget about it, this is doomed. In fact, forget about it, I’ve seen some of the history of that account.

I have strong reservations about it all, passports, legislation etc. Equally, I’m not sure what the solution is either.

      I’m fully vaccinated.

        1. SOQ

Mad isn’t it? There is absolutely no way vaccine passports are going to fly in the US- some states have even banned them outright of course.

          1. Micko

About 300-600 are still dying every day in the states from Covid.

I think they’ve reached a point where they just don’t care anymore. And rightly so.

One thing we do have in common is that both countries have absolute clowns walking around in the sun, outside with masks on. :0)

    5. Cui Bono?

It’s nothing to do with left or right wing.

      Mostly liberal and anti authoritarianism.

Everyone I know there are left wingers, Sinn Fein and PBP voters.

      1. Joe

You obviously were not there last night then.
The people I saw last night was a who’s who of the far right, foaming at the mouths, puking about their Freedumbz…NP/YellowVests… vile stuff

        1. Micko

So why didn’t any of the National papers go with the headline. FAR RIGHT SCUM PROTEST IN DUBLÍN or similar, instead of ignoring it completely.

Yeah…. Have a think there Joe

          I’ll wait.

          1. Joe

Attend one of the protests Micko and you can see for your self the organisers…NP/YellowVests.. and fellow knuckle draggers.

          2. Micko

Well Joe, let’s say for a second that you and CE are correct.

And that the far right were indeed leading that crowd last night.

A crowd of highly motivated people – people who were willing to protest from all over the feckin country at 11pm last night. 11PM for Christ sake!!

The last time we had a highly motivated group of a few thousand individuals in the country, they started a civil war that took on the British Empire, split the country in two and lasted for decades.

So, if you DO believe what you are saying and that the far right ARE in charge of those people – then you both should be VERY worried and VERY scared.

Me, I’m not, as I don’t believe they are far right.

But you lads.. well, you should be crapping yourselves. ;-)

          3. SOQ

And that’s the point Micko- the only utterances from the Left is Murphy and his tone deaf ‘more lockdowns’ BS. People are frustrated and angry and because the pressure is building, something is going to fill that vacuum.

But all you hear on here is schoolyard hissing and bitchin about “the other side”- as though that is going to make a blind bit of difference.

Bottom line is, all left of centre parties voted against- so its time they got off their asses and mobilised with the rest.

      2. ce

I’m sure there is a wide-ish spectrum there… but they are useful idiots for the NP and similar, who will milk it for all it’s worth…

  4. Fearganainm

The organisers should have posted “No organiser’s (sic) honest!” just to reassure the innocents they’re hoping to lure to their recruitment programme that there really aren’t any organisers.

Thurday won’t please the fans of Scandinavian deities who managed to oust our own Déardaoin (a Christian imposition that itself ousted our original Diu ethamon)

The omission of síntí fada from Áras an Uachtaráin would have broken Pearse’s heart.

  5. ce

First they asked me to wear a mask, and I said no because it didn’t work/imposed on my freedom etc. etc…. and so the pandemic dragged on…

Next I half-bottomed wore a mask or a visor, cause I needed to get into the supermarket occasionally…. so the pandemic dragged on…

Next I demanded my rights to visit other countries and have othesr visit our freedom loving country, so we could spread an infectious disease… rather than doing what makes sense with infectious diseases… and sure it’s not real anyway… and the pandemic dragged on…

Next I demanded that the government lockup/protect the vulnerable, so everything could open and I could have a meaningful Christmas… and so the pandemic dragged on… and the vulnerable remained vulnerable because that’s how it works…. and many of the vulnerable lost things like day services, respite care etc…. etc… but I couldn’t get a pint, so it’s not like their rights or freedoms are important….

Next, when others – especially those in power – didn’t follow basic guidelines, I decided that I sure as hell wouldn’t …because two idiots added together equals common sense, yeah!?… I think… and why should I be responsible for my personal actions…. and so the pandemic dragged on

Next, when I had a bit of a dose – and luckily not too bad – I met other people, cause sure it’s only a flu and the herd needs to be infected for their own good… and so the pandemic dragged on…

Next, I refused a vaccine – which is my right – and while it might protect the vulnerable, why would I take the very small risk of a mild reaction and the minuscule risk of a deadly reaction …. because while freedom fighters sometimes put their lives on the line for others, I’m not that kind of freedom fighter…. I like waving flags from a distance and watch others do the heavy lifting…

and so the pandemic dragged on…

And now, we’ll gather outside the Áras to protect out rights, and have no regards for the rights of the vulnerable, and have absolutely no regard for the men and women who have worked to the point of exhaustion in full PPE in our hospitals, the poorly paid ECE staff, those in supermarkets on minimum wage etc… And we’ll act outraged that some people might not want to mix with un-vaccinated people during a pandemic in enclosed spaces, because they have the audacity to want to protect others, maybe even people who they have direct caring duties with… don’t they know they are sheep…

And we’ll be outraged that the government might decided that actually, the rights of the vulnerable for once might be taken more serious than those of the flag waving ‘freedom fighters’… actually it’s just cause the Vintners are giving out, the government don’t really care about the vulnerable… if only the artist have that kind of lobby clout of the Vintners maybe they could go back to work too…

but not while the pandemic drags on …

Freedom isn’t free, I like to make everybody else – especially the vulnerable – pay for mine… see you at the Áras tonight to end this horrendous discrimination against the true “Freedom Fighters”!!!

    1. SOQ

There is so many circular arguments and gaping holes in that diatribe- it’s actually quite funny.

      1. ce

Thanks for the feedback, I will endeavour to live up to your high standards from now on…

In any event, your personal actions will all continue to destroy the lives of the most vulnerable in our society…

Also, I won’t be surprised in the Bill goes to the SC, can definitely see that happening…

Say hi to Fuhrer Justin at your freedom march xxx…

        1. SOQ

I have been an advocate of The Great Barrington Declaration from day one, in which was a solid set of guidelines as how to care for the vulnerable. Where they implemented? Were they heck- and what resulted was that 60% of all CoVid-19 deaths in 2020 occurred in nursing homes.

Then, they went around and vaccinated people who were clearly not fit, that resulted in a death rate for this year which dwarfed last- it was euthanasia, no other word for it.

So don’t lecture me on protecting the vulnerable when any vaccinated person can still catch and still transmit the bloody thing.

And besides, if they are vulnerable then they should already be vaccinated, in which case- it should not matter about anyone else.

          1. ce

The GBD basically says lock up the vulnerable and everybody else carry on as normal, herd immunity will win out… great plan that, really gets into the details of how to actually implement things… and it’s fantastic that people fall clearly into the vulnerable or not vulnerable category…

            “So don’t lecture me …” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=56iF9TmuaE8

          2. Cian

More blather from SOQ (quelle surprise)

The Great Barrington Declaration was only published in October 2020; by that stage over 80% of the deaths in 2020 had happened. You nursing home point is moot.

The vaccine is now euthanasia, eh? more blather; are you going to link us again to that page with made-up charts “allegedly” from rip.ie data?

          3. Nigel

Just as a point of interest – apparently the Barrington Declaration received PR input from an ad agency funded by the Koch Brothers – well, brother, one died – famous for pouring millions into climate change denial. Also, publiished by a libertarian free market thinkk tank, the sorts of people spending millions and fighting tooth and nail to prevent anything remotely resembling a public health service in the US, not to mention denying climate change.

          4. SOQ

“Adopting measures to protect the vulnerable should be the central aim of public health responses to COVID-19. By way of example, nursing homes should use staff with acquired immunity and perform frequent testing of other staff and all visitors. Staff rotation should be minimized. Retired people living at home should have groceries and other essentials delivered to their home. When possible, they should meet family members outside rather than inside. A comprehensive and detailed list of measures, including approaches to multi-generational households, can be implemented, and is well within the scope and capability of public health professionals.”

Sunetra Gupta then expanded on those guidelines in other interviews, but lets take a very common sense one- Staff rotation should be minimized. In Ireland, agency staff moved freely from home to home. Surely someone somewhere should have twigged that was a high risk?

As for the vaccines and subsequent deaths- Health Freedom Ireland wrote to the Dáil on 11th March 2021 outlining what they saw as “a very serious rise in the number of nursing home deaths (excess deaths) for the three-week period beginning at the end January 2021”- and called for an investigation.

As far as I am aware, they never received a response. Now if their figures were wrong then I am pretty certain that someone somewhere would have rushed to prove it.

SF are now backing such a call of course.

@ Nigel- yes there was a liberaltarian input but Sunetra Gupta is most definitely not- she describes herself as left of Labour.

          5. ce

“Sunetra Gupta then expanded on those guidelines in other interviews”… well great, I’m sure they were flawless … and I’m sure they also included cast iron methods for determining the vulnerable and not vulnerable… the GBD was/is utter fantastical tripe…

While there were horrendous – potentially criminal – mistakes made here in many aspects of the pandemic response, this does not absolve any person from taking personal responsibilities for their (in)actions, and how their (in)actions needlessly impact on their fellow citizens…

We are were we are because of our collective inability to do what needs to be done with infectious diseases… well done us… enjoy the rest of the show, there’s worse to come!!! – huzzah!!!

Bedfellows, whether you like it or not:
            https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Justin_Barrett#/media/File:Justin_Barrett_and_Gemma_O'Doherty_(2019).jpg

          6. Nigel

That’s ok. Bodger is probably left of Labour but he loves his right wing conspiracies. You seem to see yourself as left and you LOVE your right wing conspiracies. So why shouldn’t a left of Labour scientist accept right wing support for going against scientific consensus? Trump politicised the pandemic, the right is capitalising on it, and the Great Barrington Declaration is part of that.

‘SF are now backing such a call of course.’

Good for them. I have no idea what that has to do with the GBD.

‘Sunetra Gupta then expanded on those guidelines in other interviews,’

I’m not sure what this criticism has to do with anything else, though. Lots of people in Ireland and UK savagely criticised the governments’ respective handling of nursing homes. That has nothing with the advocacy of a quasi-genocidal ‘natural immunity’ policy.

      2. Papi

        “Circular arguments and gaping holes”
What’s funny is you saying that about someone else.
        Unbelievable.
