    Say there… world governments.

Do you need a way to ensure that less poor brown people come to your country?

Well have I got a solution for you!

    1. Nigel

World governments have never been shy of preventing brown people coming to their countries, with or without pretexts. The US already tests and vaccinates migrants crossing its southern border, hopefully they’ll do the same for Afghan refugees at point of entry.

“ never been shy of preventing brown people coming to their countries,”

Ye know. Half your arguments are based around the “it’s already happening” so why bother stopping it getting worse.

They test and vaccinate them – oh that’s nice.

        Do they neuter them too?

Maybe treat them for liverfluke? Ye know head held back and really get in there with that flukegun in the side of the gob. ;-)

        Good job.

        1. Nigel

‘Ye know. Half your arguments are based around the “it’s already happening” so why bother stopping it getting worse.’

This particular argument is about health restirctions on travel and immigration being not particularly novel. Funnily enough, in the US, the venn diagram of people who oppose ‘brown people’ immigrating and who also oppose vaccinations and vaccination-related restrictions is pretty much a circle.

‘They test and vaccinate them – oh that’s nice.
          Do they neuter them too?’

No, Micko. They do not neuter them, because they’re not animals. They’re people.

          1. Nigel

Who? At the southern border? Don’t know. Afghan refugees at point of entry? Probably not set up yet, given the whole thing is a shambles.

          2. Micko

            Yeah, you’re right – you “don’t know”

So maybe you should find out before you start praising it as a good policy.

          3. Nigel

I clearly knew more than you, and know the limits of my knowledge. You got jokes about neutering immigrants and refugees.

          4. andrew

“Oh and the neuter thing was a joke.
            Jesus Christ dude”

In fairness to you, Micko, almost everything you say on here is a joke, so it’s hard to distinguish between the ones you intend as jokes and the ones you don’t.

          5. Micko

“ I clearly knew more than you”

And this belief is the root of your problem. And Andrews and a lot of others on here.

So self assured. So sure that the path is correct. So convinced of your superiority.

            Sounds so familiar…

          6. Nigel

In the context of this conversation, I demonstrated a greater level of knowledge than you. However, I have corrected the disparity by sharing the knowledge with you, and now we are on equal footing in terms of the information contained in my comment, so, far from being convinced of my superiority, I have endeavoured to create equality. Except in terms of jokes, your jokes were bad.

          7. Micko

            Actually – Data’s an android… not a TNG fan I take it

But anyway, very Interesting… Mr Slave.

            And your opinion on Nigel?

Robot, Human, Cyborg, K9? What do you think?

I like to think of him as a cross between Bicentennial Man and HAL 9000.

Ye know, the type who would dogedly pursue his opinions and goals no matter what the cost to humanity, but also bore the liathróidí off ya about how old he is.

          8. Slave to the Rhythm

Yea it’s been a long day Micko, I am a TNG fan but could not think of the technical term… anyway yes, that’s Master Slave to you, Sir. Get it right please.

On your other question, yea I think of Nigel being more like the reanimated corpse of a long forgotten faerie child…

          9. Micko

Thanks for that “Cian the Machine”

Failing the Turing test one day at a time eh Cian…? :p

          10. Nigel

Micko: The tortoise lays on its back, its belly baking in the hot sun, beating its legs trying to turn itself over but it can’t. Not without your help. But you’re not helping.

Nurse: Look, sir, I just need to stick this swab up your nose.

          11. Nigel

Nobody’s making points any more, SOQ, we’re all having witty human banter like real live human persons, to create camaraderie and drown out the drumming of death’s rentless hoofbeats.

    2. SOQ

What is fully vaccinated? Two jabs? Three jabs? Ten jabs? Only certain jabs?

This bill is by Ritchie Torres, a freshman Democrat- it is far from certain to pass. It is a is a transportation caste system which will rouse a lot of Americans.

      1. Nigel

It will rouse exactly the same Americans who are already roused, and who share your opposition to public health measures.

          1. Nigel

In the US, almost everybody who has been vaccinated is staring in abject horror at the behaviour and consequences of the people who are not, and at Republican governers actively passing laws to prevent public health measures, even those carried out by private establishments and organisations, in defiance of their own supposed ideology. A measure like this is far more likely to be supported as a result.

In terms of vaccine effectiveness, why don’t you crunch the current data from all over the world, accounting for variables such as vaccine uptake in populations and the proportions of vaccinated versus unvaccinated infected and relative severity in vaccinated versus unvaccinated in those populations and laying out the results in clear and comprehensible form before making yet more completely unsupported claims? I’d hate for you to get a reputation for being wrong about everything.

          2. Nigel

If you can’t parse the meaning of my comment, I have doubts about your competence to parse medical and epidemiological data.

          3. Clampers Outside

            Guffaw!

You appear to. have an overly high belief in your own ability to write coherently.

          4. Nigel

I certainly overestimate some people’s reading comprehension, but at least I don’t type ‘Guffaw!’ in cold blood.

          5. Micko

Judging by this entire thread, I think the AI that runs Nigel is dropping that top level piece of code that makes him blend in with real people.

He no longer needs to appear human.

He’s now like Mark Zuckerbot in front of a congregational hearing.

The uncanny valley will kick in any day now and we’ll all be like – WTF is this crap!! :p

He also, now knows “why we cry”

    3. Slave to the Rhythm

Elect Trump? He’s the kind of guy who holds great appeal for you and your ilk Micko…
They don’t send their best people?

  2. Kim Cardassian

The sooner this happens in Europe the better. We need to stop this facade of gently handling the “rights” of the few who are choosing to disregard the rights of the many by not getting vaxxed.

    Bring back leper bells.

    1. Micko

You’ve gone full Cardassian I see

      Never go full Cardassian

Also, “There are four lights.” :-)

Not a single comment was prompted by the post regarding ireland’s case for environmental and social reform by the weekly writer but close to fifty replies to this usa focussed post. Vaccination fascination and star track are probably one and the same but either way, they have whatsapp groups now where you can argue the finer points with your friends or not really friends etc.
