Claret and blue?

Apparently.

In a survey carried out by sportswear giant Sports Direct, it emerged that almost a quarter (24.46 per cent) of [Aston Villa] shirt sales in the UK and Ireland, took place in Dublin. The next most popular place for buying Villa shorts was London with 18.71 per cent, followed by Birmingham’s 15.834 per cent…

Villa!?

Anyone?

VILLA?

More Aston Villa shirts sold in Dublin than Birmingham, according to study (The Irish Mirror)

cianCian Healy and his Land Rover Defender

‘WindowLicker’ asks:

Ireland and Leinster rugby prop Cian Healy faces prosecution for having tinted windows on his  all-terrain Land Rover Defender. I discovered this image (via Balls.ie) from March 2013. They don’t look very tinted to me. Did he have special  ones put in?

Anyone?

Going to the Castres game at the RDS tomorrow?

Will you be filming?

FanFootage (the Dublin bred start-up that ingeniously syncs fan videos with decent audio) wants YOU.

Cathal Furey writes:

Leinster Rugby are looking fans to film their match-day experience at the Castres games in the RDS tomorrow and upload their videos to FanFootage? Here’s what the last Leinster Rugby FanFootage video turned out like:  (a much warmer Ballsbridge for the PRO12 final last May)

Fanfootage is starting to get a lot of interest from sports clubs and leagues worldwide looking to tap into the potential of harnessing fan-shot videos at sports events. It would be great if the lovely Broadsheet.ie community helped spread the word about this and got involved themselves, so we’ll have a great case study to land a small Irish startup those crucial international deals and employ some more people here in Dublin.

Coming Out Of The Curve.

With Donal Óg Cusack.

Fergus McCormack writes:

In ‘Coming out of the Curve’, Dónal Óg Cusack takes stock of gay rights, both at home and abroad, and asks how far we have travelled, from the days when being gay was against the law in Ireland. He talks to other sports people about coming out and interviews an ‘ex-gay’ man who claims he has been cured of his homosexuality

Coming Out Of The Curve is on RTE One, Monday 19th January, 9.35pm.
