A festive Sminky 2012 Short from Andrew James.
We love the Sminky.
(H/T: Aoife)
A short by South Korean animator Hyunji Lim, who sez of it:
As society evolved, the mandatory amount of stress people had to receive increased immensely. Modern people are vulnerable to mental problems. Regardless of age or gender, anyone can suffer from a mental illness and not be aware of it. However, people are unsure if they have a mental illness and also the symptoms sent by their mind. That is why people nowadays are constantly suffering from their mental illnesses without even realizing it.
The characters represent each metal illness and show us their symptoms. Someone may find his figure through the characters. I hope that my characters paved the way to look after your tears.
An excellent promo for London-based VFX studio Cinesite with an equally excellent unexpected ending. Written and directed by animator Alvise Avati.
Animation Domination Hi Def explores the real-life global catastrophe implied by the existence of Santa.
Which is true, and actually happens every Christmas.
What’s the best way to ease someone’s suffering?
Part of an illuminating talk entitled ‘The Power Of Vulnerability’ by US scholar and public speaker Dr Brené Brown animated for The RSA by Katy Davis.
Director Alex Nicholson’s first film is a dark short featuring South London tattooist Duncan X reminiscing about his life and work.
As his tattoos materialise (VFX by MPC motion design studio):
…the subject matter becomes lighter and the viewer warms to him- his tattoos become part of his story, rather than the usual vehicle for judgment.

A new (slightly NSFW, very short) short from animator Terry (he’s from Monaghan so he is) Reilly, who sez:
I hope it cheers up a few of the lovely eejits :)
Previously: Lazy Feckers
A daft short by Trexel Animation featuring a daft robot with an equally daft toy: a magnifying glass that actually increases the size of the object.
