Slovakian artist Tomas Moravec has adapted the standard 1200mm x 800mm Europallet to run on the 1000mm wide narrow gauge tram tracks of Bratislava (also used in Antwerp, Basel, Belgrade, Bern, Frankfurt, Geneva, Ghent, Helsinki, Zürich and elesewhere)

Sadly fortunately, it wouldn’t work here. The Luas runs on standard 1435mm gauge tracks.

Like Greg Klassen’s excellent river and lake furniture, the Abyss table by Duffy London also evokes marine topography, in this case, an unspecified section of am unspecified ocean in layered wood and perspex.

The images above are only digital representations of the as yet unmade tables.

The effect is lovely. The production run is limited to 25. The abyss into which your wallet will plummet, judicious buyer, is €5,800 deep.

The former New World shopping mall in Bangkok – closed in 1997 and left without a roof by a fire in 1999 – floods during the rainy season creating a year-round haven for mosquitoes. In 2000, an unknown person began introducing koi carp and catfish to the flooded interior.

Not only do they feed on mosquito eggs and larvae solving the infestation problem, they’ve proliferated in ideal conditions creating a unique 150m² urban aquatic ecosystem.
