An artificial skin cover for smartphones developed by Marc Teyssier and his colleagues at Telecom Paris. To wit:

Currently limited to smartphones, smartwatches, and touchpads, the prototype is responsive to a variety of gestures, including pinching, tickling, and poking, responding to different emotions: sudden, hard pressure is associated with anger, while gentle and sustained stroking is associated with providing comfort.

Oh dear.

Behold: the Geely Auto Vision Starburst – a ‘vision of the future’ from one of China’s most technologically advanced automakers (and the owner of Volvo) Geely.

Supposedly inspired by ‘stellar rays’, the all-electric Starburst has a uniquely twisted profile enhanced with colourful LED lighting inside and out, scissor-style suicide doors, illuminated wheel arches, ‘borderless’ instrumentation and ambient sound and lighting that change depending on the car’s motion, direction and charging status.

It make never make it to production in this exact configuration but then again, it might, which would be no harm.

An interesting stop motion short by animator Corrie Franis Parks – a mesmeric shifting landscape of banknotes and miniscule stones. To wit:

Between the dazzling layers of currency and sand lie connections that can be mined in infinite ways. Each person who views this film will unearth different associations filtered through their worldly experience and national background.

Make of it what you will.

Behold: the Daytona Shooting Brake Hommage (sic) – not a production Ferrari per se but an updated version of a one-off 365 GTB/4 Daytona specially commissioned in the early 1970s by a private client.

Currently in production, this homage created by designer Niels van Roij with a heavily modified body built on the chassis of an unnamed grand tourer (possibly a Ferrari 599), is a one-off, just like its predecessor.

And if you like that kind of thing you can follow its construction here.

Behold: the 2022 Bugatti Chiron Super Sport Coupe – a more civilised take on its predecessor – the world’s first production car capable of 300mph (480km/h)

In order to achieve that terrifying performance, the Super Sport Chiron 300+ was stripped of every weight-adding luxury and comfort.

The Coupe puts all the transcontinental back in, while retaining the 1,578bhp quad-turbo W16 power plant and long tail body, electronically limiting the top speed to a slovenly 278mph (440km/h).

Only 60 will be made and yours will cost €3,200,000.

Behold: a chopped and slammed Mercedes-Benz 300SL by Los Angeles-based restoration specialist John Sarkisyan.

Obvious modifications include a removable roof, carbon fibre front bumper, widened wheel arches and side pipes.

The one-off has not yet been formally released but will likely have a supercharged AMG V6 engine to match the aggressive low slung stance.

You can’t have it. It’s only for looking at.
