This week at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York, the original cast of The Breakfast Club (without Emilio Estevez) reunited for a special 25th anniversary screening of John Hughes’s cult classic. Actually, they’re all holding together fairly well. Apart from Judd Nelson. Who looks a bit like Sam Smyth now.

New film censor Ger Connolly has banned the DVD re-release of 1978’s video nasty, ‘I Spit On Your Grave’.

For its depiction of “acts of gross violence and cruelty towards humans”.

He used to be an accountant.

Last time I saw a film involving gondolas in Venice, it was Moonraker.  While Depp does wear a white evening jacket, I don’t think he’s going to be harassed by a steel-toothed henchman. Paul Bettany without a facial tattoo will have to do.

Amalgamated or not, Pixar has been soundly thrashing Disney in the realm of animation for the last decade or so. Maybe this will win back a few fans for the veteran half of the partnership.

A word of caution though: this trailer hides a dark secret – the movie is, in fact, a musical.
