Loyalists held a protest in Bushmills on Saturday rather than attend the opening of an art project on which they had been working for 18 months – because it was being unveiled by a member of Sinn Fein.
But in spite of the protest the Peace Three art project of a cow was opened in the Millennium Park by Moyle District Council chairman, Sinn Fein councillor Cara McShane and DUP vice chair of Moyle council Robert McIlroy.
Last night chairman of Bushmills Residents and Environmental Forum, Derwyn Brewster, said they had asked councillor McShane “that if she was coming along, not to be speaking in Irish and not to take the limelight and to be low-key”.

There’s no one on earth he’s afraid of.

His father’s paternal grandfather was Irish.

Matthew Fitzpatrick, 18, said in his post victory interview with Jessica Marksbury following the victory at the 2013 U.S. Amateur Championship:

“I’ve not had a chance to check my Twitter, other than the followers have gone through the roof, which is strange and nice at the same time I guess. It could be a hectic next few days I think..”

Watch out Rory.

Racist graffiti was daubed on the walls and a double-glazed window and door pane were also broken at the house on Wayland Street, off the Castlereagh Road at around 1am on Monday.

The 27-year-old man renting the house has been living in Belfast for eight years.

The Nigerian national had only been in the property for a few days before the incident happened.

12/8/2012 LGBT NOISE March for Marriage Protests

Ana María Jiménez Ortiz, a congresswoman for the Mexican political party PAN, has caused outrage by saying that gay people should not be allowed to marry because they don’t face each other during sex.

According to Mexican media reports Jimenez Ortiz told supporters during a forum on whether to legalize gay marriage in the state of Puebla that “marriage should only be considered in those relationships in which the members have sex while facing each other.”

A marriage should only be considered amongst people that can look at each other in the eye while having sexual intercourse,” Jiménez Ortiz said. “Something that does not happen in homosexual couples.”

Michaella Connolly’s pal partied with a one-eyed convicted criminal before they were busted for cocaine smuggling. Melissa Reid, 20, was photographed smiling as she and other friends posed with hulking Shane Knowles (above) in Ibiza. The shot was taken soon before she claimed a gang on the Spanish island forced her and Michaella, 20, to become drugs mules. Tattooed Knowles, 37, lost an eye in 1999 when he was nearly beaten to death by an alleged associate of crime boss John Palmer, known as Goldfinger, in a Tenerife pub toilet.

Any excuse.

Vodafone made a previously unreported multimillion-pound settlement with HM Revenue & Customs in the wake of a dispute over the tax paid by an Irish subsidiary created to collect royalty payments for using its brand.

The UK-based mobile phone group used an Irish subsidiary, which employed no staff between 2002 and 2007, to collect hundreds of millions of pounds a year in royalty payments from operating companies and joint ventures around the world. By 2007, Vodafone Ireland Marketing Ltd, a company registered to an industrial estate in the Dublin suburb of Leopardstown, was reporting a turnover of €380m (£320m) a year.
