Touchy.

But no feely.

Kieran Ryan writes:

“The top tag rugby players from Ireland and the UK were in Dublin this weekend to take part in a 1-day Super Blitz in Terenure RFC [Dublin].
The blitz is the first in a series of events that will help decide which players represent Ireland and its regions when the Australian and Great British international teams travel to Ireland in July for the inaugural Tri-Nations Cup. More info about regional and international tag rugby can be found on our website here.

[Screengrabs from tonight’s Six One News on RTÉ, showing the new design of the opening credit sequence. Tonight’s news was presented by Úna O’Hagan and sports presenter Evanne Ní Chuilinn, above]

The Irish Times reports:

“The refresh, which cost RTÉ about €25,000, also includes a reworking of composer Ronan Hardiman’s title music, which will become a little less thunderous and more upbeat. The bad news for sports presenters is that they will be standing up during midweek bulletins, not just on weekends. And one formality has been dispensed with altogether. The Six-One bulletin will no longer feature a booming voice-over man declaring “it’s Six-One, RTÉ News with . . .” as the camera pans the studio. “The ‘voice of God’, as we call it, is going,” said Hilary McGouran, managing editor of RTÉ television news.”
