Kind of.
You may have heard Pro-Life campaigner Caroline Simons (above) on RTE R1’s ‘Morning Ireland’ earlier speaking to Rachael English.
Caroline Simons: “Our first concern is that all women will be entitled to whatever intervention they need to deal with any complication of their pregnancy as I myself have availed of and is currently the practice in all the maternity hospitals within Ireland.”
Rachael English: “And if that includes a termination then, so be it?”
Simons: “Let’s be really clear, people have different understandings of that particular word, termination. All pregnancies terminate. Mine all terminated with interventions. Two of them were interventions before term in order to deal with the complications of pregnancy. If it involves or needs an early delivery that’s what a woman should have.”
Hmm.

From Birr, Co Offaly. Educated at Alexandra College, Dublin, where she learned to drive a car at the age of 12 before “graduating” to motorcycles. She subsequently became fascist (as nice gels in the 1930s tended to do) and was interned in Britain. Probably why she doesn’t merit a mention on the Alex website.
She said she would get married when she met a man who was more of a challenge than a motorbike.
It did not happen.

Ellen & Carla – Dreamer
Catherine O’Mahony writes:
Thought you might like this video as I know you support new Irish music. My 15-year-old sister Ellen O’Mahony and her friend Carla Ryan are singer songwriters who play guitar, ukulele and piano. Their latest track “Dreamer” is a wistful love song and is something way beyond what you’d expect from two girls in Transition Year! I’m over in Oz and cried a little when she sent it to me, I have to admit :) Have a look and if you like it, I know they’d really appreciate the help getting their music out there.

Labour will this week press for an early Cabinet commitment to legislate for limited abortion amid party concerns about Minister for Health James Reilly’s ability to implement a new legal framework.
The expert group on abortion’s report will be brought to Cabinet tomorrow. It says legislation consistent with the Supreme Court ruling on the X case is required and this should be followed by ministerial regulations.
Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform Brendan Howlin yesterday said the Government would act “speedily” and insisted the Coalition would not be the seventh administration to fail to act on the 1992 judgment.
Oh?
An early statement of intent by Cabinet this week would provide cover for Labour backbenchers who will come under pressure to vote for former Socialist TD Clare Daly’s revamped abortion Bill on Wednesday night.
Ah.
Carry on.
