There appears to be some sort of push on from legacy print media to make links to an article subject to copyright. Am I the only one that thinks the idea of demanding payment to have traffic sent to your ad-supported site is utterly absurd?
The Examiner [see below] refers to Google linking to their stories as “piracy… at an astounding scale” which I think is probably putting it a bit strongly. It’s fairly ironic that all of their ads are on Google’s display network.

Hello.

John Gallen asks.

This is a thing that went up on the wall by the old Guinness Hostel on James Street, Dublin, in the past couple of days. It’s not painted on it’s a cut-out fixed to the hoarding. Nice and colourful like, but does anybody have any idea what it is supposed to be or for?

Leo Varadkar went on RTE R1’s Morning Ireland.

Leo is asked if he thinks the salaries being paid at IBRC [formerly Anglo] are too high. He replies “If they are cut, it will mean fewer income taxes coming in and lower spending.”
Brilliant.
Me: “Leo, should I buy these Louboutins?”
Leo: “Absolutely!  Cause if you pay for them with cash, you’ll get change!  And change means you get money!”
Me: “Ah Leo you’re the bestest!”

Oh no they can’t, etc.
