The visit afforded him two features in consecutive editions of New Spotlight magazine. All photos here.

That’s Larry Gogan (pic 1) and Tony Kenny and the Sands Showband (Pic 2). Can you name the rest?

Canadian YouTuber Kyle Burton writes:

I talked my Grandma into developing her old 8mm movie. I’m happy I did because the footage is unreal. My grandfather would document each family vacation and this video tells the story of a family road trip though Ireland. I tried to edit the footage as unobtrusively as possible to tell his story. Includes Belfast, Antrim, Ventry, Dingle, County Donegal, Dungiven.

There’s just one catch.

Filming starts tomorrow in Northern Ireland on the most famous scenes of the epic “Games of Thrones” series — the Red Wedding.

And, according to a casting notice, the show is looking for amputees to act as extras in the bloody episode.

“Seeking LEG ONLY, MALE AMPUTEES,” reads the notice posted this week on an Irish casting Web site.

Interested actors are required to send “a clear description regarding where your limb is missing eg. at knee, at ankle, etc.”

Any excuse to play this.

The shoes, called Scary Beautiful, are a collaboration between artist Leanie van der Vyver and Dutch shoe designer René van den Berg. Like Alexander McQueen’s infamous Armadillo heels, Lady Gaga is said to be very taken with them.

Apparently, they’re a commentary on ‘impossible standards of beauty’. To wit:

Humans are playing God by physically and metaphorically perfecting themselves. Beauty is currently at an all time climax, allowing this project to explore what lies beyond perfection. Scary Beautiful challenges current beauty ideals by inflicting an unexpected new beauty standard.
