What you may (or may not) need to know:

1. Not a remake of the ‘classic’ Irish thriller, The Courier (1988), described by In Dublin magazine as ‘brutal’ – the movie’s marketers later used this as a recommendation on the title’s UK video sleeves, not realising brutal means SHITE. Watch an amazing clip from it here.

3. We do love Jefrey Dean Morgan, from Watchmen (2008) and TV’s Supernatural, the type of solid b-movie actor destined never to get a fair shake.

4. Hey! It’s Hugo Stiglitz from Inglorious Basterds (2009)!

5. After Sin City (2005) and The Wrestler (2008), it’s sad to see Mickey Rourke back phoning it in in a big pile of straight to DVD shite. Was 50 Cent
busy?

Release Date: Wait, we just found the whole bloody thing on YouTube

What you may need to know:

1. This is possibly the most insane trailer in the history of cinema.

2. They’ve given up trying to come up with variations on the words ‘fast’ and ‘furious’.

3. First rule of sequels: any movie is better if you stick The Rock in it. Movies we wish The Rock had been in: What Richard Did (2012), Lincoln (2012) and The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (2011).

4. Vin Diesel just signed up for a Kojak movie. Seriously, like.

5. Also in the mix this time: Gina Carano from Soderbergh’s Haywire (2011). She kicks ass.

6. Flying cop car at 1’20.

7. ‘Guys… They got a tank.’

8. Now THAT’S what we call a popcorn flick.

9. They have to do the next one in Donegal.

Release Date: May

What you may need to know:

1. It’s a documentary about Napster.

2. It’s directed by Alex Winter, AKA Bill S. Preston.

2. Bewildered Noel Gallagher @ 1’26

3. Napster still exists, but not really.

4. Spoiler Alert: It all worked out for Sean Parker: Justin Trousersnake played him in a movie, and he’s got more money than you.

5. Prognosis: Most excellent.

Release Date: Who cares? Download it instead.

Cheers to the Bazmeister General

What you may need to know:

1. It’s directed by Michel Gondry.

2. Gondry went Hollywood with The Green Hornet (2011). It didn’t work out so well. Now he’s gone back to his native France, and is getting his quirky on again. Big time.

3. It stars Audrey Tatou, doing her Ameile thing, and Roman Duris, from The Beat That My Heart Skipped (2005), Heartbreaker (2010) and The Big Picture (2012).

4. That Lumineers track is everywhere these days.

5. The trailer is best described as Gondry-esque. This, we stress is a good thing.

Release Date: Summer

What you may need to know:

1. It’s the new Coen Brothers movie.

2. Truth be told, that’s all you really need to know.

3. Who’s that playing Llewyn Davis? Oscar Issac, from Drive (2011).

4. John Goodman hasn’t been in a Coen Brothers movie since O Brother Where Art Thou. Prior to that he was in The Big Lebowski (1998), Barton Fink (1991) and Raising Arizona (1987).

5. Justin Timberlake’s in there somewhere, too.

6. It’s not meant to be about Bob Dylan. Seriously.

Release Date: May

What you may need to know:

1. It’s Die Hard in The White House.

2. It’s one of two Die Hard in The White House movies coming out this year. The other one, White House Down (2013) stars Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx, and is directed by the guy who did Independence Day.

3. Gerard Butler accepted a challenge following his breakthrough role in 300 (2006), to see how many utterly brutal movies he could star in. It’s been going pretty well. Here, he looks puffy and pissed off, as only a man who starred in The Bounty Hunter (2010), The Ugly Truth and Playing For Keeps (2012) could.

4. Morgan Freeman. Sure, why not?

5. How much bad CGI? A lot of bad CGI. How many cliches? ALL the cliches.

6. We’d be happier if Steven Seagal was in it instead.

Release Date: April 19 (US: March 22).

What you may need to know.

1. Yes, more James Franco. Merry prankster. Occasional genius. Worst
Oscars host ever. Loves his BSDM.

2. This Is The End is an end of the world movie starring Franco, Seth
Rogan, Jonah Hill, Danny ‘Kenny Powers’ McBride, Jay Baruchel and the
incomparable Craig (Hot Tub Time Machine) Robinson, all playing
themselves.

3. ‘James Franco didn’t suck somebody’s d*ck last night? Now I know
y’all are tripping.’

4. Make no mistake, Danny McBride is a friend of Broadsheet

Release Date: Summer 2013

What you may need to know:

1. It’s a sequel to Red. We would have gone with Red Part 2, Redder or
Red 2: Scarlet.

2. Bruce Willis (58 in March) can do any amount of old shite, and still
rock the house. He had a career re-booting 2012, with three hits in the bag:
Moonrise Kingdom, Looper and Expendables 2.

3. That said, this might be the most superfluous sequel Bruce has done
since The Whole Ten Yards (2004).

4. That said, he’s all about the sequels this year, what with A Good Day
To Die Hard
and GI Joe 2.

5. Malkovich Malkovich Malkovich Malkovich.

6. Unspoken Rule Of Sequels: adding Catherine Zeta Jones is never, ever
a good idea (see 2004’s Ocean’s Twelve, which, come to think of it, also
featured Bruce).

7. Anthony Hopkins is extremely choosy when it comes to accepting film
roles these days. He must be paid a massive fee, and in advance, to
boot.

8. We’re still holding out for Hudson Hawk 2.

Release Date: Summer
