Today’s Irish News details unexplained injuries suffered by an adult with severe learning disabilities for more than a decade in an NHS-run care home in Derry.
Injuries included “black eyes, busted lips, severe bruising to her groin and stomach and broken limbs“.

The BBC understands the PSNI are to refer a video, which appears to show officers leaving a incapacitated woman at the side of a road, to the police ombudsman.
The video shows a woman being lifted from the middle of the road on John Street in Derry. The woman was then moved to a bus stop and the police drove off.
Assistant chief constable George Hamilton said the behaviour, was “well below the standards we expect from our officers in dealing with vulnerable people whether the vulnerability is due to alcohol or anything else”.

Glenn previously told the ‘Derry Journal’ he had been “disgusted” by the discovery. “The tube had been sealed and we were really shocked to find the gloves. They were really manky – with rubber palms – the kind of heavy duty gloves you would expect a workman to wear,” he said.
He sent the item to Nestlé for investigation – and this week the company came back admitting that the gloves were “similar to those used” within their packing area.
