UPDATE: via National Library of Ireland:
“A small fire broke out at the National Library of Ireland (NLI) on Kildare Street today before midday. The fire occurred – during maintenance works – in the basement of a building which houses administrative offices. The fire was immediately brought under control but the fire alarm system in the Library was activated and buildings were evacuated, as is the rule in the Library. The Dublin fire service attended the scene. Kildare Street was sealed off and has since reopened. There were no injuries. No collections were damaged or were in danger of being damaged.”

“A car has been driven through the perimeter fence and main entrance of Quinn Packaging in Derrylin [Co Fermanagh] tonight (Thursday) before being set alight in another major attack on the Aventas Group. A Garda Siochana car is also at the scene. The registration of the car used in the attack is POB 1, a clear reference to Aventas Chief Executive Paul O’Brien.”

The Roche family [Edward Street, Limerick] lost all their belongings in a fire on Christmas Eve. I do mean everything, including son Darren’s Debs suit. [Menswear shop owner] Tony Connolly in the town read about the fire and replaced it (above) Definitely worth a shout out (although I would have gone for a darker suit meself. Jusayin’).
Fair play though, in fairness.
