This Summer.

At the watersports and activity centre Oysterhaven in Kinsale, Co Cork.

Safe Haven Ireland and Welcome Wave launched the first year of their five-year instructor incubator project for children living in direct provision.

Today, Safe Haven Ireland writez:

“A few snaps of our trainees (taken and shared with permission) in full swing in their sailing courses.”

The aim is that some of the initial group of young sailors will progress to instructor level.

In fairness.

Children leave direct provision behind to make waves sailing (Liz Dunphy, Irish Examiner)

Free Friday?

Cian Walsh writes:

Two gents, Jon Hynes and Sean Cahill, kayaked the 1500km around Ireland this summer. A documentary was made about the trip. We are now showing it around the island to whichever club or society are interested.
We’re kicking off the screenings this Friday (October 23) at 8pm in Kinsale Yacht Club [Kinsale, Co Cork]. We’re also raising funds for a wheelchair hoist to help all use the water facilities at Cappanalea Outdoor Education Centre in Kerry. All are welcome.
