Sex Siopa won an SME award at the weekend and I’m really excited about it! It’s the 2nd year in a row that I won this award, so in true Shawna Scott fashion, I celebrated by getting dizzy on sweets and beer and then fell asleep by midnight. (I’m really living the dream!)

I just want to thank everybody that has used Sex Siopa and all that have supported me over the past few years, ‘sheet included.

I chose to commemorate 1916 the only way I know how…with an Irish flag dildo specially custom made for Sex Siopa by our friends at BS Atelier. Till the end of 2016, €5 from each sale will be donated to the Abortion Rights Campaign.

The future I want to see for Ireland is one in which the women of this country are trusted to make informed healthcare decisions for themselves, and our doctors are protected under the law. If you trust women, the 8th Amendment needs to be repealed.

Free February 12?

Shawna of Sex Siopa [Ireland’s only health and design focused sex shop), writes:

Myself and chef Kevin Powell of Gruel Guerrilla are organising a special Valentines supper event for the 12th of February that we think our fellow Broadsheet readers might be interested in attending.

We’ve called it Lupercalia, after the pre-Roman pagan festival that preceded our modern holiday. Guests will be treated to a 4-course meal inspired by the history, folk traditions, and mythology of Valentines Day. They will also receive a SexSiopa.ie goodie bag with sexy treats worth €40.

Lupercalia will take place in our super secret Dublin city centre location which will be announced the week of the dinner via email.

Seattle-born Irish citizen and Sex Siopa founder Shawna Scott writes:

There’s been a press embargo till this morning, but something really awesome happened last week that I’d like to share with Broadsheet.Last Thursday SexSiopa.ie was presented with an award from the IE Domain Registry by Alex White T.D., Minister for Communications, Energy, and Natural Resources.

This makes us the first sex shop in the history of the State, possibly the world (at least that’s what my initial Google searches have lead me to believe) to receive an award from a government official.

A party to celebrate the  first birthday of Sex Siopa, a non-sleazy Irish online sex aid store, in the Twisted Pepper. Middle Abbey Street, Dublin last night.

Seattle-born [made an Irish citizen last year] Shawna Scott unveiled a new product range from “bestsellers” Lelo and Minna as well as gulp-inducing stainless steel toys from “newcomers” Njoy.

Sez Shawna:

“I’ve put together some gorgeous gift hampers on the site SexSiopa with a variety of toys, and if you’re not sure what to get that special someone, just get in touch at ello@sexsiopa.com.. I’m always happy to help with toy recommendations.”
