…The US Food and Drug Administration has recommended a “pause” to the rollout of the Johnson & Johnson COVID vaccine so it can investigate reports of… blood clots.
The single dose vaccine has been given to 6.8 million Americans.

The latest Regulations ease the COVID-19 restrictions in limited but important ways. The Government continues to blur the distinction between law and public health advice in a way that is likely to mislead citizens as to the extent of their legal obligations.
In most respects, the law is less strict than what the Government presents. In relation to meetings between vaccinated people and some construction work, the law is more strict than what the Government presents. For the reasons that have been advanced repeatedly, this offends the rule of law and corrodes public trust.

Strasbourg, France.
Compulsory childhood vaccination in the Czech Republic, with failure to do so resulting in a fine or being barred from nursery school, doesn’t violate the European Convention on Human Rights.
The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) ruled that compulsory vaccinations would not contravene human rights law and may be necessary in democratic societies.
The ruling came following conclusion of a complaint brought to the court by Czech families regarding compulsory jabs for children.
“The measures could be regarded as being ‘necessary in a democratic society,'” the court judgment read.
Although the ruling did not deal directly with COVID-19 vaccines, experts believe it could have implications for the vaccination drive against the virus, especially for those who have so far stated a refusal to accept the jab.
This judgment “reinforces the possibility of a compulsory vaccination under conditions of the current COVID-19 epidemic,” Nicolas Hervieu, a legal expert specializing in the ECHR, told AFP news agency.

Via The Guardian:
Italy, Spain and Belgium have joined other European countries in restricting or recommending the use of the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine in older age groups as the EU struggles to agree common guidelines to counter expected public hesitancy.
The European Medicines Agency (EMA) on Wednesday found a possible link between the vaccine and very rare cases of blood clots, although it said its benefits far outweighed the risks and did not announce any restrictions.

Meanwhile…
The HSE is, for now, continuing with its planned rollout of AstraZeneca vaccines to people with underlying health conditions that put them at very high risk from Covid-19.
Any change in guidance would create further obstacles in the State’s protracted vaccine programme given that the AstraZeneca shot accounts for just over 20 per cent of the planned vaccine supplies to the State during the months of April, May and June.
