Craic Boi Mental – Irish 2Pac

‘Give me dis, give me dat, You want some crack? oh sh*t who’s that? It’s the Irish 2Pac…’

James M Chimney writes;

The four horsemen of the hiphopocalypse have just ridden by and left this (above) in their wake…It’s hardly ‘MF 1700 is how I roll, baling hay takes its toll. Bitches checking my frontage, knee deep in pussy, dripping in gold’ but shorty don’t have my lyrical skillz.

The Lucid.

By Conor Walsh.

An album of new music released today by the self-taught minimalist and electro-acoustic composer on the third anniversary of his death.

Conor, from Swinford, County Mayo, performed at festivals including the Electric Picnic, Other Voices and supported Hozier on his Irish tour in 2013.

Conor’s sister, Fiona Walsh who helped to bring The Lucid together said:

“This album is for his fans and by creating this album with his close friend and mentor – Enda Bates who was the producer of Conor’s first EP ‘The Front’, and Rob Farhat who previously worked with Conor – we wanted to remind people of all the different aspects of Conor; as a brother, friend, composer, and artist. The subtle approach to this album will leave his fans in awe of his simplistic beauty.”

The Lucid is out now on vinyl and digital platforms, iTunes and Spotify and is available to purchase on Bandcamp and will be launched at two events – The Sugar Club, Dublin on March 15 and The Front; The Gateway Hotel, Swinford on March 16.

Zapho – Water Me

A new single from songwriter, singer, musician and producer Zapho (Ele Breslin), from Rathfarnham, Dublin.

Emma Harney writes:

In Water Me, Zapho builds a rich sonic landscape, layered with harmonies, hooks and, strangely, owl hooting. In an ecstatic live performance, it becomes an ode to the thirst for living, breathing and growing. And yet, when all is said and done, this is just really catchy pop and really good fun.

Martin Mackie – Lock In For The Damned

A new single – available from next Monday – from Belfast singer songwriter’s new album Temperance Songs which ‘deals with the theme of alcohol in its many forms’.

Martin writes:

A Lock-in For The Damned is about a Dublin venue where musicians and their pals sometimes end up drinking the night away. There’s always a party atmosphere mixed with a good dose of madness and people end up leaving, completely twisted, when it’s daylight….

Name that venue, anyone?

Owen Denvir – The Lie That You Think I Am

Belfast singer songwriter Owen writes:

You guys featured one of my videos way back in 2015. It’s not taken me 4 years to release something new, I just thought that my new video in particular you might enjoy.

It’s animated by a student artist I stumbled across from Brighton called Maddy Salgado. I’ve recently been working with a charity called Live Music Now, who provide live music for care homes around the UK.

This song was inspired by my experiences with old folks with dementia, both through the scheme and in my family. It always seems like the most important things to dementia sufferers are family and music from their childhood, and triggering these memories with them is a joy to watch. I think Maddy did a fantastic job visualising this.

In fairness.
