Wristwatch Motorcycles by Brazilian artist, Jose Geraldo Reis Pfau.

The time pieces that inspired Jose Geraldo Reis Pfau’s creations were collected with a help of a friend who happened to own a wristwatch shop. Through an advertising campaign, clients were encouraged to give their old watches as a first installment on the purchase of a new one.

Although Pfau only creates his art during the weekends, he has a collection of hundreds of motorcycles made exclusively from wristwatch components. They have been showcased at jewelry fairs and art exhibitions throughout Brazil and several other countries.

A replica White House, a concert venue bigger than the 02 and 20,000 visitors a week.

Viva Las Tipperary.

Prime Time last night examined the plans to make Two-Mile Borris the new Sin City.

A project funded by slot machine tycoon Richard Quirke (see earlier post) and supported by independent TD Michael Lowry.

As Richard’s son Andy might put it. Here’s a flava:

“If a Chinaman came in, or some other man came in, and said he was going to give 2,000 jobs to the area here, there wouldn’t be a word about casinos, a word about anything else. We’d meet him with a red carpet and open arms and we’d say, ‘Don’t leave Thurles, we want those jobs’.”

Austin Broderick, president, Thurles Chamber of Commerce:

“Because Richard Quirke, why should he be available? I mean, what divine right have you to have Richard Quirke stand in front of you or answer your questions? Richard Quirke is a businessman. He makes investments decisions on his own behalf and if Richard Quirke is not available to you, that’s his business.”

Michael Lowry, on why Richard Quirke has not made himself available for interview.

“My understanding is that, to keep a casino of that scale open, you would need approximately 20,000 visitors a week. So the logistics of getting 20,000 people in and out of Two-Mile-Borris on a weekly basis, I would suggest, would be ambitious at the very least.”

David Hickson, director, Gaming and Leisure Association of Ireland:

“I would much prefer if somebody with, I suppose, less baggagge in the public domain were championing our cause, yeah… We do want our reputation to be restored and you want, I suppose, people who have obvious integrity, at least in the perception of integrity.”

Hickson, on Lowry’s association with the plan:

Peabody, Massachusetts yesterday: a truck hauling industrial printer cartridges rolls over on a ramp, closing the highway for 8 hours and resulting in this oddly beautiful picture, rendered in hundreds of gallons of one of the most ridiculously expensive liquids known to man.

No-one was injured in the crash.

Meet Andy Quirke.

His dad Richard’s business Dr Quirkey’s Good Time Emporium on O’Connell Street, Dublin got the Prime Time treatment last night in a wider investigation on the Michael-Lowry-supported  casino in Tipperary.

As a demonstration of his family’s quirky good taste they showed Andy’s parody of MTV Cribs. The mansion is his dad’s. The cars are Andy and Wes’s.

The girls are all bootylicious white, southside boys.

Now. Finish this sentence:

“Is it cos I is a _________?”
