The very gorgeous George.

He’s had a time of it.

From Dublin SPCA

This little cat (we have named George) was rescued last night from teenagers that were trying to throw him into the canal at Inchicore Dublin 8.
A member of the public rang us this morning to say that he had seen three girls and two boys aged approximately thirteen to fifteen egging each other on to drop the cat from the lock into the deepest part of the canal. The man immediately went over and took the cat from the teens and brought it home to safety.
First off we would like to point out that this man although we cannot name him is a hero in our eyes and we are so grateful for his intervention although it would be only right for us to encourage anyone in this situation to call the local Garda station first for advice.
Also if anyone in the area knows who might own this cat please contact us, he is a 1 yr old male Tabby not neutered and very sweet natured. Call us on 014994700 or email lost@dspca.ie .

Everyone was there.

At last night’s Eric awards, handed out by Entertainment.ie.

Including (above) Ryan Gosling and Ann Grimes (the very squee ‘Ah Heyor, Leave It Out’ Woman”) with her daughter Jackie

Meanwhile., worst-supported model winner Danielle Moyles

Ah heyor.

Leave it in.

Etc.

Any excuse to play this.

The judges’ decision was unanimous.

George Longwill’s cover (above) is the first winner (of four) of the Le Cool Dublin Cover competition thing.

But what’s with the calculator? And who is the real George?

He sez:

I’m a graphic designer. I run a small design company called Chuffey with my sister Liz. I generally spend the day at my keyboard designing, while Liz brings in work, and big-ups us to the world. Most of the time I’m doing bathroom catalogues and cow-related adverts really. If it’s got a cow on it, I probably designed it! (unless it’s crap in which case it was someone else).

This was my Dad’s calculator and I use it for working out my millimeters when designing (I’ve found from experience it’s important to get these right). Just thought it was kind of cool because it is all grubby and also fitted January seasonally – it is pretty grim and a time for budgeting and well calculating things.

Le Cool Dublin

Why the long neck?

James Hayes writes:

My lovely bicycle was stolen on Tuesday between 11.00 and 12.00 outside Firestation Artist Studios, on Buckingham St [Dublin]. It’s a Dawes ‘Competition Giro’ – a blue racer, with two yellow bottle cages, however it can now be more easily recognised by the ridiculous black steering stem extension, which makes it look like a giraffe who’s joined the priesthood. If readers would be so kind as to keep an eye out for me, that’d be excellent. Modest reward offered for its safe return.

Anyone?

Meanwhile, we’ll just leave this here.
