lansdowneFebruary 15, 1995.

YOU and your dad watched in horror as some English fans tore Lansdowne Road, Dublin, a new one.

WE watched in agony as they dismantled your innocence along with rows 30-38 of the upper west stand.

You were far too young to understand the muscular tradition of Combat 18. Or appreciate the unalloyed pleasure they get from having a crack at ‘the mick’.

But where are YOU now?

Marcus O Buachalla writes;

Ahead of the England V Republic of Ireland match in Wembley next Wednesday May, 29, Setanta Sports has launched a search to find That Kid from ‘95. Setanta Sports, as official broadcaster of next Wednesday’s game, want to send That Kid and a friend to the match all expenses paid. But first, we have to find him….

Anyone?

England v Republic of Ireland, Wednesday May 29 from 7pm live on Setanta Ireland.

Meanwhile, more pressingly:

Organisers hope up to 5,000 dogs will attend the 3km  stroll in the Phoenix Park, Dublin, on September 28.

Five thousand.

We’d take Chompsky, but he hates crowds, other dogs, the Phoenix Park and walking.

Huge thanks should be extended to the Spar managers presently on a corporate jolly (sorry, “conference”) in Killarney, who have apparently decided to put  their garish logo all over the waterfront of this beautiful seaside town while they’re visiting The Kingdom, presumably as part of some form in-house PR exercise.

Eyesore or harmless bovine fun.

MOO decide.

Glencree German Military Cemetery is situated in the Wicklow Mountains National Park south of Dublin.  There are 127 Second World War burials here, many of whom were either Luftwaffe personnel whose aircraft got lost in bad weather, or sustained damage on raids over England and were unable to find their way home, or perhaps ran out of fuel due to navigational errors and crashed in Ireland, or Kriegsmarine personnel who lost their lives at sea and whose bodies were washed up on Irish shores.  53 of these men are identified, but 28 are sadly unknown.

Hat tip to Luciano who sez:

Did you know? I didn’t know.

We didn’t know.
