A Limerick A Day

The first Golden Eagle chick bred in captivity at Newgrange Falconry, Co Louth

Some animal rights people say
We should reintroduce birds of prey
Which sounds well and good
Till your whole neighbourhood
Is pounced on and carried away.

Hopefully they’ll be too busy picking off seagulls to bother actual pets or lambs.

My MIL (a border county religious fanatic) felt it was “not right” for these birds to be reintroduced as they could “carry babies away”. Seemed a little outrageous/OTT to me, but not knowing that much about these birds I just replied that man has to adapt to his surroundings and maybe we should stop thinking we have more right to the planet than every other living thing…. Australians don’t leave their babies hanging out with dingos or playing with rattlesnakes…

      Thank poפ for that.
      – For a moment there I thought you were talking to a unit of angular measurement equal to 1⁄6400th of a complete circle.
