What looks like USB chargers on the back of some seats on a new [Dublin] bus, route 122 this evening. Sweet! But not plugging in until I know more.. (worried about power surges and just paid out for a brand new phone).
Blue light is very attractive. This sort of thing is going to attract the homeless.
On some buses it’s in big white letters on the back windows.
If he spent 10 seconds googling he’d have seen articles talking about how the new busses all have usb ports.
And you’d rather trust an article than ask the opinion of people who might have actually used it. Sure we’re knowers of knowledge here on BS, you should know that.
I think I’d much rather google than ask broadsheet readers
I think you secretly enjoy, Rotide. A form of self-flagellation.
Sure plug in, what could possibly go wrong?
You cant get a power surge on a USB charger unless you are trying to charge something massive that needs to draw more power than the outlet can provide. One phone? You’ll be grand.
With USB 1.0 and 2.0, a standard port is capable of delivering up to 500mA (0.5A);
(USB 3.0 moves up to 900mA/0.9A)
Your phone is capable of absorbing about 5 Watts (5 volts at 1000 mA).
Your tablet is capable of absorbing about 10 watts (5.1 volts at 2100 mA).
sorry, you’re being very vague?
I was being sarky, that was a very informative comment, fair play :-)
I think you just got roasted, Harry.
Thanks @Harry. There was me thinking I was going to amp up my comms skills :)
Waste of sarcasm Harry.
I’d be more concerned about this:
Just lock the phone as it is charging. Worry over. That is if phone are connected to any back end infrastructure and not just dumb leccy terminals.
Correction: Just lock the phone as it is charging. Worry over. That is if phone charger are connected to any back end infrastructure and not just dumb leccy terminals.
Dumb Leccy Terminals. The name of my new album.
I can die happy now :)
Give them a week and they will be wrecked with gum.
Brand new phone. Takes bus home. OK,I can see where the puck is going…
Uninteresting fact: USB acronym for BUS. Dublin #BUSUSB anyone?
You mean anagram, guy.
How about BUSB?
so thats B-us-US-b
don’t use it then and request full instructional data from Dublin Bus. case closed
You dodged a bullet there my friend.
Stay alert, and don’t start sucking up bandwidth you don’t know how to use properly.
Leave it to the professionals.
Or switch to Android and read up on phone-security.
Used one briefly for the craic. It worked. 10/10.
10/10 for craic?
Are you still paying 13/10?
Dirty dublin tracksuit white sock boys will have these wrecked by… and they are broken.
At last, somewhere to use my USB toaster.
Power surges!! Pfft where are we, Chernobyl?
The only Power surges around here are ignorant ones from Breda, wha’?
I plugged mine in and my whole web history was broadcast on the side of the bus.
But did you get U2’s next album download for free?
