We are a 21-strong motley crew of international dancers gearing up for a one night performance at the Olympia theatre [Dame Street, Dublin 2] this Friday, May 5,  with an existential take on the illusion of time!

Our show is unique in that it brings street dance into the theatre and gives it a central focus alongside ballet and contemporary. and promises to be a truly delectable cultural meat

Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin raised the National Maternity Hospital with Taoiseach Enda Kenny.

From their exchange:

Micheál Martin:Can you confirm that that hospital group [St Vincent’s Hospital Group] and the Sisters of Charity will not have a majority on the board? And, above all, will you ensure that the State, the taxpayer, will own this hospital and will have its investment reflected in it? As a bottom line, given the investment it is taking?”

Enda Kenny: “Yes, I can, I can confirm that there will be complete clinical independence. I can confirm that the Sisters of Charity will not have majority of the board and, in relation of ownership, this is a matter that requires some, some consideration…”

Yesterday.

The International May Day March, organised by the Dublin Council of Trade Unions, took place in Dublin with participants walking from Parnell Square to Liberty Hall.

Eamonn Farrell writes:

[The march] highlighted the homeless crisis and other social issues affecting the lives of trade unionists, the unemployed, immigrants and other sections of society, including Ellie Kisyonbe (above) who protested about the plight of asylum seekers who are not allowed to work.
