Yeah they cheerfully imposed swingeing austerity to bail out banks after a stupid property bubble and shenanigans by high financiers caused a global crash without paying much attention to public sentiment. Air pollution from cars alone causes massive amount of health issues and deaths every year- an externalised cost borne by the taxpayers as victims of the pollution and in health care.
