“It Would Be Closure For Many”

This morning.

Responding to Nphet’s recommendation of a 5pm curfew…

Restaurants Association of Ireland Chief Executive Adrian Cummins said there needs to be immediate engagement with Government because the industry is in a “very precarious position” with Christmas a number of days away.

It is effectively “a hospitality lockdown” if the recommendation from NPHET is taken on board by Government, he said.

Mr Cummins also said this latest proposal brings into question the Covid digital pass and all the other different measures hospitality has brought in to ensure they keep their businesses open.

Vintners’ Association of Ireland Chairperson Michael O’Donovan said it would have a major impact and said the industry has been fighting very hard all summer and autumn to get their teams back up and running.

This would be a real hammer blow because it would be closure for many.”

Hospitality say proposed ‘5pm curfew’ a ‘lockdown for sector’ (RTE)

  1. Mr.T

Report to cabinet last week(?) stated that 300k jobs would be lost as thousands of businesses go under after EWSS is ended in March ’22

So losing the christmas trade is a death knell for these people – likely keep the show going only as long as income supports are available, then once theyre gone (and they are no longer profitable) they shut up shop.

  2. E'Matty

Duh Vintners. It is designed for maximum financial damage. They’re trying to kill off your industry while you play best kid in class. Jesus, nearly two years in and these clowns don’t realise they are being deliberately driven out of business. If you want your livelihoods to survive you’d want to smarten on quick sharp and get out on the streets and do something about. Half these fools sat at home sneering at the protesters who were out fighting for their financial survival, and then gloated about enforcing Vaxx passes. Turkeys voting for Christmas as they say. This is the second year they’ve targeted your peak week. Get rid of Cummins and bring in someone aggressively militant.

      1. Chris

Its been repeatedly stated here, but once again. To implement a new financial system, remove private property rights on the back of the financial collapse of the old one. New currency CBDC, and central banking taking over all fiscal policy.

        1. Nigel

Yes, you can tell this is the agenda by the way the politicians clearly do not want to shut down the pubs AT ALL but feel they have to make some sort of show of doing something.

Step 1: close pubs early for a short while
Step 2: remove all property rights

How can anyone refuse to see something so obvious!

          1. Nigel

Didn’t they already do that, way more effectively, after the crash in 2007? They didn’t need a pandemic, either, or to publicly wrangle about closing pubs early. God, the degree to which your conspiracy makes no sense grows with every shred of thought applied to it.

          2. Nigel

Only because of the complete lack of proof that public wrangling about early closing times for pubs was dictated by the agenda or plan of The Great Reset. Without that, yeah, it’s a conspiracy theory.

          3. Chris

No, the closing of pubs etc serves a few purposes. People are being psychologically attacked & punished. Always kept in the unknown, in order to destabilize them. They want compliance, but because its tyranny – people can never comply enough.

The passports will soon need a booster added. Younger cohorts will be promised a return to ‘normal’ if they comply. Pubs will open & close & open & close.

They’re changing the social contract, it would never be accepted if people weren’t psychologically beaten down & abused. You are part of that abuse with your constant drivel in support of all this.

          4. E'Matty

            A. Pubs enable private citizens to create wealth thereby making themselves independent of the State. All private property is to go. It will be held “in trust” for the world. All SMEs, private and family owned bisineses are to go. Mega corporations to be the sole employers along with the State.

            B. They also hate our drinking culture and want to control our food and drink intake completely. You will a life they deem “good living”. You won’t have a choice. It is not for your benefit but to reduce your cost burden. Healthy ppl don’t cost as much to maintain.

          5. Nigel

Wow, after nearly three years, The Plan calls for them to.. close pubs early. No great sense of urgency about it, is there?

          6. George

Do you think politicians are that clever?

Or who is the “they” that hates our drinking culture?

Are they communists or is big business not involved? Why would Pfhizer want to end private business?

It is hard to keep track of all these baddies.

          1. George

Pubs are probably the business where the highest percentage of turnover goes to the state so that is just illogical.

          2. Bodger

It’s not about money. They are trying to destroy small businesses, especially pubs, so they can build back better. You’ll own nothing and be happy, remember.

          3. George

It is funny that you accuse others of fear. You either don’t believe what you’re saying and this is a kind of roleplaying game for you or you live in paranoid fear. Probably the first one to be honest.

          4. George

“Finance” is not an answer. Do you mean banks? I’m not indulging nonsensical use of language designed to create a monolithic enemy that suits your narrative.

  3. Janet, dreams of an alternate universe

are they going to put the PUP back to a something you can scrape a living off and not just rent after they permanently rob people of their employment…or are they all meant to go work for Amazon

    1. SOQ

      +1.

But- because she dares to question the bishop, the ‘Covid Church’ idiots will continue with their ad hominin attacks.

    1. Chris

Obviously with consent of a parent, but yes – I think many would avail for peace of mind, & to ensure the safety of their children.

    2. Micko

      From that article.

“ She said that there was now microchipping GPS labels that you can put onto the clothing, GPS watches for children and microchipping in mobile phones. ”

She wasn’t talking about sub dermal implants for kids. That technology doesn’t exist (as far as I’m aware). The only sub dermal implants available are low or non powered units that need a reader to be in close proximity to read the information on the chip.

Like you have when your dog is chipped. You can’t track him, the power requirements would be massive. You’d have to charge his battery everyday to get GPS triangulation. Plus the unit wouldn’t be small.

I think what’s happened there is that she’s not the most eloquent and knowledgeable with tech and people thought she meant actually permanently tagging kids with special needs.

Or they pretended they thought that’s what she meant, because they don’t like her.

That being said, that freedom fighter comment is also pretty stupid too. We’ve always been walkovers. The Irish rebel is a myth we tell ourselves.

      1. Chris

“Or they pretended they thought that’s what she meant, because they don’t like her.” That’s more like it. Certain people have nothing to offer, other than a sneer.

        1. SOQ

Oh and it is also completely ignorant of disability rights too because all assisted living technology is developed and tested with not just with disabled people in mind- but with disabled people in the design, development and testing roles of such products.

I have worked in the areas- so I am certain that is the case.

      2. Nigel

THEY WANT TO CHIP US AND TRACK US AND CONTROL US THROUGH VAXX PASSPPORTS AND DIGITAL ID!

BUT WE SHOULD TOTALLY DO ALL THAT TO PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES, THAT’S OK.

        1. SOQ

In the case of dementia, most welcome these devices because it gives them a sense of security AND independence. They know that is they get confused or lost, their whereabouts will be known.

It is the same comfort as a panic button some elderly people wear in their homes. But carry on with the smearing eh?

          1. Nigel

Hey, i didn’t say I was opposed, just that all this great med tech is beneficial and not sinister, all of a sudden.

          2. SOQ

My point is that within the distality sector it is voluntary and that I am pretty certain that is where Sharon is coming from.

Being suddenly lost or confused can be a very frightening experience, and knowing that there will be someone at the end of a phone to direct them to more familiar surroundings, gives people more confidence to go about their daily lives.

IOT assisted living should not be used in such a political point scoring way- it is just wrong. Actually, it is an area I’d love to get back into because of the positive impact on people’s lives it has.

          3. Nigel

If the disabled person is not mentally competent to make decisions, then by definition it’s not voluntary. (Again, not opposed to it, but the issues around disability rights are not a million miles away from, say, the vaccination of children and public health restrictions.)

I don’t think public health measures during a pandemic should be used for conspiracy theories and misinformation driving hysteria and paranoia, it’s just wrong, but here we are.

Good for you, it sounds like rewarding and beneficial work.

        2. Micko

If you actually read my post Nigel, you’ll see that I haven’t discussed my opinion on the subject of tracking children in either way.

I only gave a breakdown of the actual available technology and how it works (to my knowledge) and how the lady’s statement might have been taken out of context – rightly or wrongly.

          But please fire ahead.

          1. Nigel

Oh, your comment is quite reasonable, just a rather sharp contrast to most comments on here about medical technology, which is being used to enslave the world, except in this case.

      3. just millie

        100% Micko.

We use a form of port which adheres to the skin for little lady. It uses NFC or Bluetooth to transfer the required data to my phone. There is absolutely no way you can track a child wearing something like this device.

It is used for the collection of one type of data which is then broken down and interpreted by the staff in the hospital and ourselves to make the best treatment decisions for little lady.

There is no infringement of my daughter’s rights here as someone with a long term illness, a disability. The tech used here is indispensable to our day to day life, and managing her illness without access to this data would be so much harder.

        1. SOQ

It is very popular for certain types of blood tests now too. I know someone who uses blood thinners and feeds her results in, then gets advice as to where to increase or decrease her medication.

That in turn saves so much time, not just for her travelling to a major hospital so often, but it also reduces the work load of the hospital too.

          1. just millie

It’s really helpful, honestly. We didn’t have one at the start and the amount of work required for only a fraction of the data, resulting in an imperfect treatment, was immense at times.

Having the device, which only has to be changed every 10 days or so, has improved little lady’s quality of life so much, even with all of the recent difficulties she’s had.

And just as you say, it reduces the demands on the hospital because the information is readily available for interpretation instead of requiring hospital visits. So much can be achieved through phone clinics now because of these devices and the data they collect. They’re very simple and yet incredibly useful technology, put to very effective use.

      4. Joan B Goan

This is the funniest thread I have see on here in yonks, when I get a laugh like this over an afternoon tae, I actually dont feel so guilty for the time I have spent perusing.
Chris and SOQ advocatin for chipping folks. Dear Gods Almightiest the feckin LOLs.
Micko, grab a couple of spare Tesco club cards, take the two of em out for a pint and show them a real life situation will ya before they take they the pints away. Jaysuswept, fair play lads, fair play.

    3. NM

The full piece would indicate the quoted remarks were made by someone else and she was just putting it out there. If you want to believe somebody made those remarks to her at all.

  4. Hughie Luas

Stag’s Head has been rubbish since old man Shaffrey died and they got all fancy with paninis and stuff and lads working there who weren’t from the border counties. Close it down regardless.

It’s all whingeing – not one of this shower of pampered bozos will go out of business. They’re not paying wages. Stock is provided on demand. Most of them are owned not rented. There’s a lot of cash handoffs going on…. (nudge, nudge, Bertie)

Name ONE pub that closed down has so far. And by closed down I mean there’s a FOR SALE sign on it.

Sharon Keogan* – loved her in Catastrophe*. Now she is one. This gobshine cannot get the name of the bleedin’ variant correct – WTF is “OmNicron”?

(* for the slow, yes I know)

        1. johnny

agreed LA based McKilllen’s edge is real estate and funky off shore financing, its a real estate development company disguised as a restaurant/bar owner.

  5. freewheeling

“Mr Cummins also said this latest proposal brings into question the Covid digital pass.”

That’d be the Covid pass he helped introduce to Ireland. Too bad he didn’t think to bring it into question back then.

    1. wearnicehats

      PEOPLE OF EARTH

His point is why did they bother to bring in the pass if they’re now just going to ignore it. He’s not questioning the validity, he’s rightly questioning the utter insanity of Tony Hooligan and those who listen to him

Anyway it now seems we’ve 3 nights to get on the lash and then house party time

Can’t wait to see what they say about households. Does that lunatic really think that people are going to cancel christmas plans at this point?

    2. George

It also doesn’t bring it into question. Pubs don’t care about the covid pass because nobody checks to see if they check them.

  6. NM

Does anybody want cash in hand work checking Vaxx passports outside pubs etc? you don’t need to be vaxxed yourself.

  7. George

You’d think Regina would got the message and given up when she was voted out at the last election. Instead she moved into the Seanad which she said should be abolished.
