Sinn Féin Bundoran councillor Michael McMahon
Bundoran councillor, Michael McMahon, has launched a stinging attack on the group of members of the travelling community who have arrived in the town in recent days from outside the area. He says it’s a flagrant breach of the Covid 19 restrictions in place and the matter needs to be dealt with by the authorities.

Last night.
Via Donegal Live:
Bundoran received the first group of Ukrainian refugees, who arrived in the seaside resort….The first busload of what are expected to be about 60 refugees arrived in rainy conditions and are staying at a number of different premises.
County councillor Michael McMahon who was one of the first people to greet the arrivals said that it was a sad situation to be offering the hand of friendship in such trying circumstances. But he was glad that the town had reached out to help those in need.
Good times.

Where are the overnight modular homes for 10k homeless people?
The Govt spent last 10 years creating a homeless problem with a mantra of *Houses can't be built overnight"

He looks thrilled
he has the look of a man that has a shed which is of serious interest to the criminal assets bureau.
I don’t think CAB are that interested in the type of stuff you put in sheds, scottser.
You may be getting them mixed up with Gardener’s World, a popular TV show.
Eh?
Well, it’s very popular chez moi.
Any chance you might give me your address, I’d like to check out your shed, on behalf of Gardener’s World?
Have you seen the price of ammonium nitrate lately?

There’s gold in them thar sheds
now, i’m not insinuating anything, but i reckon there’s a fierce weird smell comes out of his shed. and while i’ve never been in his shed, i would be careful not to peek in drawers or feel around on those high up shelves – god forbid you accidentally grab his dirty dibble.
Or smell his shed farts.
The Irish hatred towards the traveler community is deeply disturbing.
Its a reputation theyve earned
Crime and antisocial behaviour statistics for members of the travelling community speak lengths as to why they are so hated
The Irish people support one of the most generous welfare states in Europe, are one of the more welcoming countries for refugees, and are one of the only countries in Europe with no far-right/racist party thats popular – all because Irish people are in general very tolerant, supportive, and easy-going.
The one demographic that Irish people in general consistently dislike is the traveler community, and thats based on direct experience. I don’t know a single Irish person who hasn’t had a bad first hand experience with them.
You obviously don’t know too many people.
How many is too many, gringo? You can get back to me.
#notalltravellers
You know some nice, socialised, peaceful, non-violent travellers, Mad?
Had they got long hair & tie-died t-shirts, yeah? A dog on a string, maybe? Dreads?
Hippies, that’s hippies & New Age travellers Mad, different kettle of fish, altogether.
How many Xanax did Pelosi give you?
Hate might be a bit strong but I can’t say I’m too fond of them after the mess they made of two parks in my area. Cost 100s of thousands to clean up
No, it’s not really. Have you ever encountered any members of that, eh, community yourself?
No, didn’t think so.
If you ever do, tell us about it.
I have to be honest, those refugees look Polish, to me.
By the way, my other response, above, is to Sara, not Gavin, he’s talking sense, she’s never tried that, probably.
This phone is Chinese, probably booby-trapped by Putin.
Took a minute or two to work that out….@Broadsheet sort your poop out, you need a better system, im not getting those confused 2 mins back
Many years ago, I worked casual labour as a Carnie at the Ballinasloe horse festival and met plenty of travellers, whilst I slept in a caravan with 5 other funfair workers, for a pittance I might add.
Most kept themselves to themselves. the fights and brawls were generally between the differing families, usually after drink was taken.
I would be inclined to give them some space and respectfully leave them alone for the most part.
Back then they appeared to enjoy the life on the road, and there was no shortage of newish Land Cruisers dragging pretty pimped caravans.
They are part of our history, society, and deserve at least a modicum of respect for their identity.
If we are encouraged to respect young people that identify as cats or none specific gender, can we not find in our hearts to respect people that want to live in a house with wheels, surrounded by kindred spirits?
Do you know how the ethnic Ukranian looks like?
Clowns, do you at least check their documents?
There are as many blacks in Ukraine as there are jews in Somalia.
Got some african refugees instead… perhaps a mix up in the post office. Are there free returns?
I have doubts that the family on the second photo is from Ukraine. 98,2% of Ukrainian population are light-skinned people. Also, taking in mind, all that discrimination which happened to colored students (they were locked, not allowed to evacuate during the 1st week until sharing info about them in social networks or colored people were not allowed to cross the border with Poland) I am wondering how this “ukrainian” family could get to Ireland so fast.
I have concerns about the people on the photo being Ukrainians. Slavic people are light skin usually. It is not a racism, it is just as it is.
