A Limerick A Day

The vast majority of protected marine areas in the UK are being “bulldozed” by destructive fishing practices, according to new data

It seems marine scientists wish
That trawlers would leave a few fish
Alone in the sea
They don’t all have to be
Served up to us on a dish

If it’s happening there it’s happening here
Our fishing grounds are being pillaged by our EU partners plus those who established grandfather rights who fished in British waters and now fish our waters
Simply fuel up in Castletown bere union hall killibegs or any fishing port and they have the proof of purchase and of being in Irish waters
This is exactly what was happening as brexit was nearing
So our 5% allocation of our own fish in our own waters is actually less as more trawlers are now fishing in our waters

Since we joined the EEC. NOW THE EU
€400 billion worth of fish has been taken out of our waters by EU fleets
We received less than €30 billion in grants in total much wasted by over charged projects corruption and cute hoorism
Our fishing industry has been a great earner for mainland EU and fishermen basically paid the price of our membership of the EU
