ALL art is quite useless according to Oscar Wilde.

Danleo, Denise Nestor, Maser/Leah Burke (Homebird), Will St. Ledger, will be flogging their wares masters of their arts.

Where? The Copper House Gallery on Thursday, May 1st.

Dee Reddy writes:

“Marriage Equality’s vision is of an Ireland in which same sex couples, our families and our children enjoy equality. The contributing artists, the event sponsors and No Fixed Abode share this vision and hope that through this exhibition we can raise funds for Marriage Equality to continue their amazing work ahead of the referendum on same-sex marriage in 2015.”

Any excuse.

Hookie.

He’s fallen out of love with a piece of technology.

“The main story in sport is not TV3 winning the World Cup, because it was a bid, they bid more than than the other guys, it was a simple bid, right. However, the decision of the GAA to sell the rights to SKY is far more dramatic – for the future of Gaelic Games in this country.
It’s not actually about paying for the matches – it is that it will mean an inexorable drive now to professionalism in Gaelic Football and Hurling. That means that Gaelic Football will eventually become – and Hurling will become the province of about 150 players who will be highly paid, then the whole idea of Gaelic Games – the parish and all that will be gone – a bit like rugby – gone.”

Football on a Saturday night?

Until Midnight!?

“The focus of the Midnight Street Soccer league is to provide young people from all over the North of Ireland with something to do on Saturday nights. The project is aimed at youngsters aged between 14 and 17. The league takes place on Saturday evenings from 9.30pm and stops shortly before midnight.”

The Midnight Street Soccer league has been in Derry since 2011 and Gary says each season they attract over 100 young people to the football pitches in Shantallow every Saturday night.

Anyone got a spare all-weather pitch?
