Where is ledge Hall-of-Famer, Paul Cleary (of The Blades) now?

The Irish Times asks this morning.

Paul politely declines to tell them (told you he was a ledge).

So where is he now?

Somewhere in Dublin, according to the paper.

What’s he at?

He’s somewhere in Dublin.

Thanks.

Somewhere in the Dublin area.

Where Is Paul Cleary Now? (Irish Times)

Bearded, Guinness-sipping, American tourist writes about Ireland. Should I care?

He teaches at Princeton. People listen to him. He has a Nobel Prize for Economics.

Kissinger has a Nobel prize for Peace.

He predicted the world-wide recession back in December 2006.

David McDreamy saw it coming back in the 80s.

In June, Krugman asked – vis a vis Ireland’s savage cuts and Spain’s lack of same –  does austerity really impress the markets. His answer then was no.

So he’s changed his mind? Not very noble. Hur.

If by change you mean he’s more convinced than ever that our self flagellation was pointless then yes.

Oh.

He’s compared the 10-year bond yield (don’t ask) of both countries. Guess what? Spain – the biggest messer in the class – is tearing us – the hard-working, arse-puckering toady – a new one.

Meaning?

Austerity be damned

Does he have graphs to prove this? Not pretendy ones from that website?

Yes.

Is there a devastating quote from the article that will silence me and end  this conversation?

“…since austerians were claiming bond market approval as a sign of its policy success, it is worth pointing out that dutiful Ireland looks as if it’s entering a runaway debt spiral, while malingering Spain is looking considerably better.”

Relax, it’s only a movie.

And a pretty good one at that.

Sensation is directed by Tom Hall and stars our pal Domhnall Gleeson.

Part of the ‘Irish Movies Are Getting Better’ season.

Unlikely poster blurb: ‘Risky Business’, Tipperary-style.

More here.

Yesterday in Dublin. Fighting for fairness, equality and the right to be as miserable as straight couples.

A march to the doors of Department of Justice followed by a rather delicious barbecue. More fun than Croke Park. More lumberjack shirts than a Big Country concert.

Our obsession with The Irish Times’ obsession with ‘sham marriages’ reaches it conclusion today. We promise to leave this alone now. But an editorial in this morning’s paper attempting to justify its coverage of the story (front page article based on the fears of one superintendant registrar, etc). is worth sharing. Why? So you can:

Read! That not all marriages are in the name of love

Swoon! As Madam equates human trafficking with ‘bogus weddings”

Startle As she reveals NINE people were deported this year for breaking laws “in relation” to sham weddings.

Gulp! When you realise they weren’t kicked out because they didn’t know their new spouses. But for other things like false documentation and evading EXISTING deportation orders.

Shake! Your head as you travel in a taxi and listen to FM104 conducting a ‘debate’ on the matter, using The Newspaper of Record as its source.

Freeze! As you hear Nigerians, Pakistanis and anyone unfortunate enough not to have been born here be vilified by almost every caller.

Wonder! If this absurd story is actually inciting racial hatred.

Wish! That Madam had won that seat for the PDs after all.

Then! Do the Crosaire.
