Van Morrison

This afternoon.

Covid-critic Van Morrison has confirmed a series of reluctantly socially-distanced shows at Belfast’s Europa Hotel on October 29, 30 and 31.

Bernice Burnside writes:

Tickets will be sold in pairs or by tables of eight and the maximum number at each show will be 184 as part of measures to adhere to social distancing legislation in Northern Ireland.

The performance will be preceded by a drinks reception and two-course supper showcasing the best of Northern Ireland produce.

Ticket prices for the first two rows are available at £250 per person, or £2,000 for a table of eight, and all other tickets are £150 per person or £1,200 per table of eight…

Blimey.

Announcing a series of similar gigs in the UK last week, the singer said: “This is not a sign of compliance or acceptance of the current state of affairs, this is to get my band up and running and out of the doldrums.”

He called on fellow artists to “Come forward, stand up, fight the pseudo-science and speak up.”

Protobaby – Twisted Words

Up, up and away.

Limerick hopefuls Protobaby (top) reach the heights with the title track from their new album thanks to Colm McGuinness’s stately baritone and Tony Monahan’s sterling guitar wizardry.

Dominic Kosicki‘s video was shot in Limerick Dock.

The album is out on vinyl and at bandcamp.

Denise Chaila – Holy Grail

She’s back.

Denise (top) is the highest charting female Irish artist of 2020 and this is the latest single from her forthcoming album Go Bravely.

The slick promo is by Stephen Hall and Outsider YP.

Denise says:

“Holy Grail is a celebration. For everyone who still wants to make their inner child proud. For glow in the dark stars that become constellations, lip syncing at little break that became bigger stages, and everyone who still remembers what they wanted to be when they grew up.”

Nick says: Go Denise!
